WARMACHINE <----Link...So on to the batrep, tonight Lach and I got back into the game and decided to do a 2K game of GK vs Necs. hmmmm where to go from here well this about sums it up for me

Yep my poor new Gray Knights got destroyed. Of course I forgot alot and played em horribly, but Lach brought it to me hard and mean. His 2 monoliths blew holes in my Inquisitors, terminators and my vehicles. His deceiver ripped apart my Pallys. And It spiralled down hill from there with me only killing a squad of wraiths and a lord (who got back up) and some Immortals and warriors. (Good job castling and making me come to you Lach, Kings to you.) On a good note the Pallys took a ton of shooting fire and laughed it off. Then they got assaulted and dies. Double stength weapons even destroy paladins. Good notes, My vindicare turbo penetrateing a monolith and destroying it, but I forgot the vehicle damage table and didn't destroy it, stupid on my part. My Inq. Chimera Tanks shocking a Nec warrior who died in a death or glory stand then the chimera not getting destroyed after 15 things shot into it. The pallys can take a ton of fire and the Apothecary with FNP is sweet. Bad notes, Inquisitors...I can't say if they're good or not a monolith destroyed both of them and there retinues in 2 different rounds. So I have no idea if the sqaud works other than psychers getting there cool psychic shot. I may have to try this list again or drop the INQ'a and get a libby and a lord. More play testing will tell. It was good to be playing again though, and I enjoyed hanging with Lach and getting a game in even if I did lose. I forgot a lot of rules stuff though in the year off. I just dont memorize the book like I need to, but I have alot of other stuff in my head that I need to keep in there so it looks like back to the rule books for me...But wait isn't 6th right around the corner. Anyway thanks for reading, Oh if you want to know the lists mine was 2 inquisitors with retinues a vindicare, 5 man pally, 2 5xMan term squads, Chimera, LRC, and a dread. I wont bore you with the details of each squad setup. Lach had 2 monoliths, 3 wraiths a destroyer lord, 2 squads of 3 destroyers, 10 Immortals, and 30 warriors with a Deciever running loose. Gause weapons are mean and I still say updated or not Necs are a very strong and formidable army if played right.

Just a small update here. FInished the majority of my first Storm Raven last night. Why did gw think we needed to self adhere the cockpit crossbars. Really you couldnt have just made it one piece? Oh well minus that one broken and repaired cross bar and a small glue mishap she came out quite well. I'll post her up with my Knights in a few days. FREE STUFF and a review.

So as I promised a while back I had some old stuff laying around that I will never use or paint or do anything with so......I am giving it away for free. No it's not a pay it forward. I never got the one I won so I am just giving them away. All you gotta do to win it is be a follower of my blog and leave a comment on this post. Pretty simple. The result of this give away will help me decide if i wanna do the next one. So, here's what I got for grabs
2 LOTR Wraiths on foot, 1 Battletech Spider Light Mech, and some Reaper Samurais (1 leader guy, I can't find a model example of him anymore and 5 Aramoro models.) They have all been primed black but that can easily be removed in a nice strip soak bath. The Samurais all have a bolt pistol attached to a hand, they're from the time I thought it would be cool to make a japanese space marine force, then got told I couldn't play them ever in a tourny. They all need a good home and mine isn't it anymore sadly.

This is a example of the Aramoro model that there are 5 of.

Lastly a quick review of my new bases. I made a large order of Alien themed bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures a few weeks back so I could get Hive Fleet Nex based and ready. They came in a few days ago and let me just say WOW! I love em' Secret Weapon out did themselves. The bases are awesome and I couldn't be happier with them. If you are debating making a purchase go ahead and do it there bases are spectacular and there's not even any paint on them yet.

The greates Thing I've ever made. She's Finally here.

Well as promised several weeks back. THe greatest thing I've ever made is here. She weighed in at 7lbs 10oz and was 19.5 inches long. She was born at 1:41 PM on 6/6/11. Her name is Emma and she is without a doubt the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I am in awe of her every time I look at her. It's awesome being a dad, here's a few shots of her.

And lastly while I've been up at night with her while the misses sleeps I have been working on finishing Hive fleet Nex. They are now done minus the bases I still have to order. The last 24 Hgauts are done and the 3 homemade Tyrant guard are done. I know some people wont like them and I hope some do. Ultimately though I like them, I hate the current model. I wanted my gaurd to be sort of mini carnifexes that just run around stupidly until they are told to block or kill by the Tyrant. So I started kit bashing and using spare parts and made my 3 unique Tyrant Guard. All made from 100% GW parts, I even added a few extra claw bits to make the crusing claws look more like large claws, so I can call them rending, I love the look of crushing claws. Anyway here they are. Sorry for the bad shots, camera was dying and I grabbed what I could.

On the Grey Knight boat....

Well things have calmed and gotten somewhat back to normal so I'm back at the K game. I decided to hop on the GK boat. But not in the typical internet spam list knights. I know I know but that's how you win. Oh well sorry, I like story and theme, I just wanna have fun with the game. IF you've seen my Nids list you know this (no guns at all I must be crazy. Oh well.) Anyway Here is what I'm thinking for my GK list. I used to play a small Inquisitor force pre new codex so now it just seems right to build on that.

Totals at 1510 points or drop 2 pallys to get 1345 for 1500 point games. As is I have room to add a LR instead of the Command Chimera, and a few dreads for 2K games. Also gotta add in some wargear. My theory is, I always picture the GK pictures from the old codex where its like 15 guys vs' 300 demons. That's pretty much what this is a small insertion force sent in to analyze and report but if things get to it they can defend there own till the larger fleet arrives. I may switch it out and bring in a Librarian for one of the inquisitors though.
Anyway, that's all for now, Still got some gants to build to finish Hive fleet Nex, then I got my Tau to build, but I may wait to see what/when they are getting a new codex. So I may do the GK after the nids. I got some DE wyhces to convert up a few Deathcult assassins, I don't like GW's current model.
Also I went through the closet and found some stuff I'm never gonna build, so, I'm gonna be having a few giveaways here in the next week or so. Though it could be a little delayed as my new baby girl should be here any day now.

Well if you've been watching TV at all you know what hit Alabama. I know first hand because I was sheltered down inside our precinct when it hit right on top of us. It has been an incredibly long day. And I'm about to go back out. This was the worst tragedy I've been in since i worked in KAtrina in the Air Force. Just say a little prayer for all of those that are still lost out there and for the ones who ahve already lost.
All of the officers in Tuscaloosa have been accounted for and there immediate families are all ok as well. We are in a national emergency status now so I wont be on much for about the next week or so. I'll get some more model stuff done up later but right now it's back burnered.

BUGS!!!!

So I managed to get up with Lach today and get the last 4 big bugs done, only 24 Hgaunts to go and 3 homegrown tyrant gaurd. I'm especially looking forward to the tyrant gaurd now as I have scene what Lach can do with a drill and a saw (see below).
First up are the 2 Trygons and the new mega fex. First let me say CMON GW really coulddn't you build the spore stacks already attached. Gluing those took forever. Trying to line them up and seat em right was ridiculous. The rest of the modes was pretty easy and I got lots of fun bits to play with now. The fex well hes had some mutations. I really love crusher claws but I don't really use em. So we were sitting there and I thoght hmm what if he had all 4 talons and claws. So....we lach drilled some holes and VIOLA Mega Fex.

Last is the Flyrant, I really am in love with her. Lach out did himself. This is what we started with.

Then we started kit bashing and Lach started surgery. This is what we ended with. I am thoroughly pleased with her. And after a quick once over and some paint she's gonna be a mean little beauty.

She's unique and the best part she's 100% GW so shes tournament worhty. Thanks again Lach.

As promised pictures of my work(s) in progress

I have been steadily working at it for the past few weeks. Well since I last posted actually. As of tonight the last 3 warriors are finished and that just leaves 2 Trygons a Carnifex, a Flyrant and 3 Tyrant Guard but I have to order some bits for them. I'll be making homemade gaurd, I do not like the current models. Hive fleet Nex is in full efect and I should be knocking out the last few big bugs tomorrow, (hopefully.) It's planned but we'll see if it comes to fruition. Oh my new Sterngaurd and Vangaurd vets are in there too, I went ahead and knocked them out in that time frame as well. I'll be needing them after the Furioso, Stormraven and new Termys come in for my birthday. It's amazing what a plan can do for you.

AND.....
My greatest creation ever is a about a month away now...and the anticipation is eating me alive. Here's what I've been doing with my old office, aka Emma's room. It's pretty much done just gotta clean up from getting all the shower presents built and put away. I still can't believe it and she's almost here. Just a few shots of her girl cave, my new man cave is almost as good as it used to be just a little less space, but atleast I still have it. More to come on her in about a month give or take.

So after Nex its time to knock out the Tau boys (name still coming) and I need to check the bank cause I gotta make a purchase from Secret Weapon Minis. Alien themed bases are gonna look sweet with the hive fleet.

Dejavu.....I've said this before.

Well its been a little over a year since my last post,and I know I said I was back when the Blood Angels came out, but I got sucked back into WoW (which I am bored with now for the most part) and life has given me a great big whirl. More to come on that with pictures. I have been building again though, and not just models. The greatest thing I've ever built should arrive in just about 7 more weeks and I'm excited beyond words. But I have been back in the modeling chair and have completed several models here recently. I even developed a model building plan, where if I build a certain number of troops I earn a tank or a Trygon or something cool. I recently earned myself a Land Raider and am 6 models away from a Trygon. I am excited about the game again and hope to keep it that way. I'll be posting more again and will have pictures of the new models, the new room I had to build that moved me into my new room, and in 7 weeks give or take my new addition. More to come I promise. I even found a group of gamers in Tuscaloosa finally and hopefully I will be able to get back into some games with Lach and the new gamers here in the near future. Sorry, it's been awhile, real life and family called and I was having some blog blues, like some others I've scene around lately. It made me sort of question whether or not I wanted to keep blogging. Sorry but I had to put word verification back. I don't need watches or Viagra or discount watches from Taiwan but for some reason I get alot of comments about it. I guess I'd rather have no comments than ultra spam. Then I got in a 40k funk and wondered if I wanted to keep playing. Then I bought all of Hive fleet nex and my entire tau hunter cadre name as of yet undecided, (thanks taxes.) at this point I also got the new BA codex. Am I glad well heck yes I am. This codex is exactly what I want in terms of space marines. Its assaulty which is what I want, I can have a plethora of dreads which is what I want. And it has a flyer which is what I want. So as of now I'm running my marines as blood angels. Since the DA aren't even on the rumor threads I think they will be back burned unless I wanna run my Deathwing. So as it stands now I'll have my assaulty BA, my assaulty Nids and my Shooty Tau, all three armies are exactly what I want them to be and it's making me happy to play again. Now if we could just find some opponents.
Anyway I have built several BA lists and settled on 4 that I really want to try. I'm gonna post the one I'm most excited well most excited until the storm raven model releases and then I'm running a 3 raven build. But here's my new what will be known as the Metal Militia...

Librarian, (still debating powers but probably lance/cover save.
6x 5 man assault squads no packs 5 with melta guns. (gotta love the point reductions for dedicated transports.)
Land raider crusader/Land raider redeemer/reg. Land raider. 3x Razorbacks with assault cannons.
2x Furioso with blood claws.
2x Baal Predators with heavy bolters.

The idea is to run the LR's up front covering the razors then open a hole and let the razors through. Use the av 14 wall and try to move up and make cover especially with the libby., inside one popping a cover save. the Baals flank each side with the furiosos behind them. This should cover flankers moving in and allows for the army that wants to skirt to get hit on either side by mass shots or dreads of doom. Plus the dreads can come over and assist the assault squads if need be. I know it's not a perfect list but it gives me 30 troops a good HQ and some nice options with armor and some decent anti armor/troops shots with some good counter assault measures. I am thinking of running it sort of like the 3 monolith list. Wish LR's had the living metal rule. And lastly as I don't want to repaint I have developed my back story and fluff and I shall leave you with LONG LIVE THE SANGUINUS KERMITUS!

So I was going through my Tau list and found a major mistake in a points total. So, I redid my list and I think Ive reached my final draft. Well final with 3 small options. I have also picked 2 options for color schemes. I thought volcanic would be cool but then I got to playing on the net and bam it hit me and I thought one of these two designs could be the one. You'll have to see below for the design pics. Anyway here's the new list.

3-9 footsloggin firewarriors w/team leader, markerlight and BSF. TOTAL ARMY 1999. They are just gonna hide somewhere and mark stuff and take 30" shots till they die. Or they may stick with the broadsides and block flanking assaulters.

there was an option 4 a bunch of kroot warriors but I just don't like the Kroot. So I shot that option down. Im thinking option 2 or 3 most likely, but I'm going to get the models to cover any of the 3. Then maybe get some other things like stealth's etc. later. I'm in a Tau fever.

And lastly here's my 2 options for the new scheme, the army will be painted in the colors of the 1st pic. of the group option with just the second shasel painted like the 2nd pic. See if you can guess what the scheme ideas came from. I'm really psyched about doing them up like this and option 1 will most likely be my choice just because it's more robotic, hint hint, but the 2nd option has my favorite villain ever in it, hint hint. Here they go.

A new army...

Nope this isn't part 6, and no it's not a new tyranid list. Yes I'm still playing my marines and my Nids but I've seen a lot of Tau stuff on the threads lately. With that in mind I go back 5 years and remember when I first read Fire warrior. I loved that book and fell in love with the Tau. I always wanted to build an army but I tend to play more of an assault game than a shoot game. But with all the recent Tau talk (mostly Old Shatter Hands site, I'm gonna blame you when I tell the wife I'm building another army.) I have decided it's time to put this one together. Side notes before the list starts, Hive Fleet "NEX" won the name it poll and well that's what I wanted to use anyway so they are in the works. Expect more on them to come. I'm gonna get the new Ven dread and battle missions at some point. Still waiting on the exacts of the new BA before I jump on that boat, maybe I'll just wait for the new DA whenever that happens. Part 6 of the BRB review is still being worked up, Vehicles is so loooong. And I have built a 8 part progressive campaign for me and JC and Lach to play over the next few months. More to come on that. Anyway to the point of this post here is my Tau list. I have it pretty secure through 1750 its the last push to 2k that's getting me. So I have some options and I'm looking for a little help finalizing that option.
Here goes.

HQ-Shasel-Plas. rifle, missile pod, target array, Hard wire multi tracker, hard wire drone controler, hard wire black sun filter, 2 shield drones.
HQ-Shasel-plas. rifle, cyclic Ion blaster, tar. array, head wire multi tracker, hard wire drone controller, hard wire black sun filter, 2 shield drones.

Elite- 3x XV8's-Twin link missile pods, flamer, team leader, Hard wire drone controller, 2 shield drones.
Elite- 3x XB8's plasma rifle, missile pod, target array, team leader, HWdrone controller, HW multitracker, HWblack sun filter, 2 shield drones

Troops- 3x 6man fire warrior squads in Devilfish with Multitracker, Disruption pod, flachete.

Fast- 2x Piranha-fusion blaster, target array, flachete, black sun filter

Hvy- 2x Broadsides-Team leader, Advanced stab. syster, HWdone controller, HWblack sun filter, 2 shield drones.

Hvy- Hammerhead-Railgun, flachete, Dis. pod, HWblack sun filter, Multi tracker, burst cannon.

Total is 1642 points. Question do you have to buy drone controllers for Suits or do you get two with a suit? I am assuming you have to have the controller but I see lists where people have drones but aren't listing the controller.

here's my options for pushing to 2000.
1-Add another identical broadside to make 3 another hammerhead for 2 and another piranha for a sq. of 3. Plus 1 extra floating firewarrior or target lock for the broadsides. Total 1997
2-add another piranha, another 6 man filled devil fish, 1 floating fire warrior and target lock for the broadsides. Total 1992
3-add Piranah, another broadside, A bodyguard for the lead shasel, stim kit for wach of the shasels and 1 floating fire warrior and target lock for broadsides. total 1999
4- Add another piranha, another broadside, and 3x XV8's-missile pod, plasma rifle, target array, team leader, HWdc, HWmt, HWbsf, 2 drones, plus 1 floating fire warrior and target lock to the braodsides. Total 1998.

or scrap that and get some stealth suits which I think are cool but no one talks about, pathfinders again no one talks about, sniper drones are cool but my heavy spots are filled, should I even get stealth suits? Option 1 and 2 seem the most viable but I like 4 too. Also I'm taking it per the book that if the team leader has the device IE multi tracker that enables the whole squad to multi target different things. Is this correct or does each suit need a tracker? Which I can't do cause only the leader can take the extra stuff.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated, comments, critiques, etc. And lastly the color scheme for the nids is black just like the aliens form the movie Aliens, black with silverish (probably mithril) claws and teeth then dipped for shine with dark blue highlights. The Tau I'm debating a Lava scheme or Snow, I see a lot of snow so I'm leaning more towards Lava but that's a whole new direction and jump in skill level for me, they may have to be commissioned off.

PART 5.....43-55

Well here is the 5th installment, and it may be the last one. We've made it up to vehicles after this installment and its just a huge amount of work, that would almost involve just rewriting the BRB onto the blog. I'm still looking at it and seeing what I can do. I may just go over it really briefly and throw a few of the really high points out. Who knows. Either way I'm done with my actual notes, so my actual work is done. I think I've gained a much better grasp of the rules thanks to this little project. Anyway, without further ado here is part 5.

pg43- Morale- Insane Heroism- A roll of double 1's (snake eyes) on 2D6 indicates the unit has automatically passed its morale check regardless of modifiers.

pg44- Taking Morale Checks- Here's 3 reasons you have to take morale checks. 1)A unit loses 25% or more of its models during any phase other than assault. 2)Tank Shock. 3)Losing an Assault. If you lose an assault (close combat) you take a morale check and you also suffer a minus (-) 1 to your leadership for each wound your side has lost the combat by.

pg44- No Retreat- Fearless units or units with special rules may not have to take morale checks. If t a unit never falls back then their unit suffers a number of wounds equal to the number their side has lost the combat by. All types of saves other than cover can be taken against these wounds.

pg45- Fall Back- 2d6 is the normal fall back distance for units. Fall Back is slowed by difficult terrain, it is affected by dangerous terrain. If any unit in a falling back unit comes into contact with a table edge the unit is removed from the table.

pg45- Trapped- If a unit cannot perform a Fall Back move in any direction without doubling back, it is destroyed.

pg46- Regrouping- Units may not take there regroup test if, 1)The unit is below half strength. 2)There are enemies within 6". 3)The unit is not in coherency.

pg47- Characters As Leaders- Units use the highest leadership value within the unit for their leadership tests. Remember this if you throw a leader model or Independent character(IC) into a low leadership unit.

pg47- Moving Independent Characters- All IC have the move through cover and skilled rider special rules.

pg48-49- These two pages are full of rules and fun things that involve IC's, Areas of note Shooting and being Shot at on page 49 as well as IC's in a unit assaulting a unit.

pg50- Perils of The Warp- If the result of a psychic test is a double 1 or a double 6a peril of the warp occurs. The psycher suffers 1 wound with no cover or armour save allowed, inv. saves can be taken. On a roll of double 1 the psychic attack still occurs but you still suffer the wound.

pg51- Monstrous Creatures- Movement- All MC's have the move through cover special rule. All MC's have the relentless special rule in regards to shooting. They may also fire two weapons a shooting phase. In assault all wounds caused by a MC are ignore armour saves like power weapons. You also roll an additional D6 for armour penetration against vehicles in C/C.

pg52- Jump Infantry- Movement- Jump Infantry can use their JUMP ability to move up to 12" in the movement phase. They may also just move normally up to 6". Jump Infantry that moves into or out of difficult, dangerous, or impassable terrain treat it as dangerous terrain and must take the test. Jump Infantry can land on top of impassable terrain if the area can physically hold all the models in the unit. All jump infantry models have the deep strike special rule. All jump infantry fall back 3D6.

pg53- Bikes- All bike riders benefit from a plus (+) 1 to their Toughness for being mounted on a bike. Bikes can move up to 12" in the movement phase and are not slowed by difficult terrain. They treat difficult terrain as dangerous terrain and must test for each member moving into through or out of the terrain. Bikes also have the Turbo Boost special rule. Bikes fall back 3D6.

pg54- Beasts and Cavalry- All beast and cavalry models have the fleet special rule and may move up to 12" in their assault move. If assaulting through cover they double the highest result of their highest scoring dice for distance moved.

pg 55- Artillery- Artillery Gun models have an armour value of 10. Any glances or penetrating hits will destroy the gun outright. If all the crewmen for a artillery piece are killed the gun is immediately removed. Any crewmen within 2" of the gun may fire the gun. When shooting at an artillery model roll for each hit inflicted on the unit. On a 1-4 the weapon is hit. On a 5-6 a crew member is hit. If a Artillery unit has to fall back after losing a C/C and the enemy is free to sweeping advance the artillery unit automatically loses the initiative roll and is swept off the table. Such is the price for having the biggest guns.

Get a snack and something to drink cause this ones a long one folks, I meant to post 3 yesterday but some family stuff came up and I couldn't get around to posting it. So here we go.

PART 3

pg 21-What Counts As Cover- Cover is BASICALLY anything that is hiding a target or protecting it from incoming shots.

pg 21-When Are Models In Cover-When any part of the target models body is obscured from the point of view of the firer, that model is in cover.

pg 21-Intervening Models- If a target is partially hidden from the firer's view by other models, it gets a 4+ cover save. Decorative elements on a models base do not provide cover saves.

pg 22-Inside Area Terrain- Models whose bases are partially inside area terrain are in cover, REGARDLESS, of the direction the shot is coming from.

pg 22-Units Partially In Cover- If half or more of the models in a target unit are in cover then the entire unit is deemed to be in cover and the entire unit receives a cover save. If less than half are in cover then the unit does not receive the cover save.

pg 23- PICTURE EXAMPLES OF SHOOTING AND COVER.

pg 24- Going To Ground- Units that have gone to ground may do nothing, but will react normally if affected by enemy actions, (ie. morale checks, falling back, etc.) Units that have gone to ground and are assaulted do not receive an advantage form being in cover.

pg 24- Models With More Than One Save- Units that can benefit from different types of cover will use the best possible cover save available.

pg25- Complex Units- Players must allocate one wound to each model in a target unit, BEFORE, they can allocate a second wound to the same model.

pg 26- Instant Death- If a model suffers an unsaved wound from an attack that has a strength value of double its toughness value or greater, it is killed outright and removed. Models with more than one wound are affected by this rule as well and are removed immediately regardless of how many wounds remain. Models who gain bonuses to their (T) from wargear do not receive the bonus in regards to insta-death weapons.

pg 26- units With Multiple Wounds- You must remove one UNWOUNDED model for each unsaved wound that causes insta-death and then proceed as normal when allocating wounds. This is done for each group of identical multiple wound models.

pg 27- Strength- When rolling to wound for shooting hits, you use the (S) value of the weapon not the (s) value of the firer.

pg 28- Rapid Fire Weapons- Models armed with a rapid fire weapon can move and fire two shots at targets up to 12" away. Models that shoot with rapid fire weapons in the shooting phase cannot assault into close combat in the ensuing assault phase.

pg 28- Assault Weapons- Models carrying assault weapons can fire in the shooting phase and still assault in the assault phase.

pg 29- Pistols- A pistol weapon counts as a close combat weapon in the assault phase.

pg 29- Template- These models do not need to roll to hit. The narrow end of the template is placed at the tip of the firing weapon and then any models fully or partially under the template are hit.
Template weapons Ignore cover. Wounds Inflicted DO NOT have to be taken from models that are under the template.

pg 30- BLAST- When firing a blast weapon models do not roll to hit, instead place the blast marker so that the center hole of the marker is over the base or hull of the target model.
Blast shots may not land exactly where placed and may scatter. Roll 2D6 and a scatter dice (dice with arrows and a bulls eye printed on it) to see where the shot lands. If an arrow is rolled shift the template in the direction indicated by the arrow. the distance is figured by taking the result of the 2D6 and subtracting the firers (BS).

pg 31- Gets Hot- For each result of a 1 on a roll to hit with a Gets Hot weapon, the firer suffers a wound. Normal saves are allowed to be taken form this damage. Gets Hot blast weapons still require you to roll even though you are not required to roll to hit with blast weapons. On a 1 you follow the Gets Hot rules and the shot misses outright.

pg 31- RENDING- Any to wound roll of a 6 by a rending weapon automatically causes a wound regardless of the (T) of the receiving model. This wound counts as AP2, and against vehicles allows for a further D3 to be rolled.

pg 31- Sniper- Sniper weapons wound on a 4+ regardless of the victims toughness (T). All sniper weapons are Rending and Pinning weapons.

pg 32- Barrage- All barrage weapons use blast markers.
All barrage weapons are Pinning.
Barrage weapons can fire at a target they cannot see, but if they do this the BS of the firer makes no difference and the shot will scatter a full 2D6.

pg 32- Melta- Melta weapons roll an extra D6 when rolling to penetrate a vehicles armour at half range or less.

pg 32- Lance- Lance weapons count all vehicle armour values higher than 12 as 12.

PART 4

pg 33- ASSAULT PHASE SUMMARY CHART- Details the course of action of an assault.

pg 33- Disallowed Assaults- Units may not assault if They are locked in C/C, The ran in the shooting phase, They have gone to ground, They shot rapid fire weapons or heavy weapons, or are falling back.
A unit that has shot can only assault the unit it shot at during the shooting phase.

pg 34- Moving Assaulting Models- All of the models in an assaulting unit make their assault move following the same rules as in the Movement phase, except now they may be moved within 1" of an enemy model. All other restrictions apply.
All models must end their assault move within coherency of another model in their own unit.
If a model cannot reach an enemy model it must try to move within 2" of its own units models that are already in base to base contact.

pg 34- Defenders React- After all assault moves have been made, the player controlling the units that have been assaulted, must move any member of these units that is not yet in base to base contact with a foe towards the enemy.

pg 35- Who Can Fight- Units with at least one or more models in base to base contact with the enemy are considered to be in C/C. Additionally models that are within 2" of at least one model in their unit that is in base contact with an enemy model are engaged in the C/C and will attack.

pg 36- Who Strikes First- In C/C a models Initiative characteristic (I) determines who strikes first. Start with the highest value and work your way down. If both side have models with the same (I) value then those models will go at the same time. If a model with a low initiative is killed by a model with a higher initiative it does not get to attack and is removed as a casualty.

pg 37- Number Of Attacks- Each model in a C/C strikes with the number of Attacks (A) listed in its character profile, plus the following bonus attacks. +1 for being the engaging unit (you assaulted.) +1 models with two close combat weapons, but you only get one regardless of how many single handed weapons you have. Other bonuses may be included for special models or for specialty wargear.

pg 37- Rolling to Hit- Rolls to hit are determined in C/C by comparing both models WS (weapon skill.) If the targets WS is lower than the attackers, he hits on a 3+, if it is equal to or up to twice as high the attacker hits on a 4+. If it is over twice as much the attacker hits on a 5+.
There's a very handy chart at the bottom of this page for quick and easy referencing.

pg 38- Rolling To Wound- To see if you have wounded in the assault phase compare the Strength of the attacking model with the toughness of the victims model. There is also a chart at the bottom of this page that can be used to quickly reference the rolls you will need to wound in C/C.

pg 39- Allocating Wounds-Wounds are allocated, in C/C exactly like the same as they are for shooting as listed on pg 25.

pg 39- Taking Saves- Cover does not provide protection in close combat.

pg 39- Removing Casualties- If a model becomes a casualty before it has an opportunity to attack, then it may not strike back.

pg 39- Determine Assault Results- To decide who has won the C/C total up the total number of unsaved wounds inflicted by each side on their opponents. The losing side must take a morale check and will fall back if they fail.

pg 39- Check Morale- Units that lose a C/C must take a morale check. If they fail, they will fall back.

pg 40- Sweeping Advance- Both the unit falling back and the winning unit roll a D6 and add their Initiative value to the result. Always count the (I) value from the models profile without any modifiers.
If the winning units total is higher they catch the fleeing unit and destroy them. They are killed and removed.
If the falling back units total is higher they break off successfully. They make a fall back move and the winner makes a consolidation move.

pg 40- Disallowed Sweeping Advances- If a victorious unit is still locked in combat with other units that are not falling back, it does not get the chance to sweeping advance, and the retreating enemy falls back safely.

pg 40- Consolidation- At the end of combat if a units opponents are all destroyed or falling back the unit may make a consolidation move. They roll 1D6 for movement and may move in any direction. Units making a consolidation move are not slowed by difficult terrain and do not trigger dangerous terrain tests.

pg 41- Attacking- In multiple combats, when its time for a model to attack the following rules apply. Models that were engaged with just one of the enemy units at the beginning of the combat must attack that unit. Models that were engaged with more than one enemy at the beginning of combat may split their attacks freely between those units. You must declare how those attacks are being split. Lastly THE NEW UPDATED ERRATA/FAQ BULLET Models that at the beginning of the combat were engaged with more than one enemy unit, but were in base contact with just one of the enemy units, must attack that unit.

pg 42- CLOSE COMBAT WEAPONS- Listings of all the C/C weapons available in the game. Some weapons of note with some special rules, Power Weapons, Force Weapons, Poisoned weapons, Power Fists/Claws, Thunder Hammers, Rending, Yeah pretty much the whole list, read it at your leisure.

Here's part two of my ongoing series to outiline some good to know things from the BRB rules. Note this was supposed to go to page 20. However page 20 starts saves and continues into weapons. That will be part 3. So without further hesitation....Part 2

pg11- Movement Distance- The standard infantry movement is 6" (6 inches.) Models cannot move through a space occupied by another model, (represented by the modes base or hull.) or through a gap that is smaller than its base. A model may not move within 1" of an enemy model except during the assault phase.

pg 11- Different movement distances in a unit-All the models in a unit move at the speed of the slowest model.

pg11- Turning and facing-Dont worry about which direction your models are facing in the movement phase. They can be turned to face the enemy in the shooting phase.

pg12- Unit Coherency-Once a unit is finished moving, the distance between one model and the next should be no more than 2". If a unit loses coherency during the game due to casualties, then the unit must be moved in a way to restore coherency in it's next movement phase, if able.

pg13- Terrain Types- There are three general classes of terrain.
1-Clear terrain- can be moved across without any penalty.
2-Difficult terrain- slows down models who are attempting to move through it and may sometimes be dangerous.
3-Impassable terrain- Cannot be moved into or across.

pg13- Guidelines on bategorising terrain- It is important that YOU AND YOUR OPPONENT agree what class of terrain each feature on the board falls into before starting your game.

pg14- Moving through difficult terrain- If any model in a unit starts its move inside difficult terrain, the unit must take a difficult terrain test, (roll 2D6 and pick the highest-This is the max distance the unit may move.) If a unit starts it's move outside of difficult terrain and wishes to move inside it the player must declare this. The player then takes the dangerous terrain test and moves as far as possible into the terrain. If the distance rolled is to short for any models to reach the terrain, the unit is still slowed down. If you take the test and do not wish to move the models,(you changed your mind) once the dice are rolled the models count as having moved.

pg14- Dangerous terrain- Roll a D6 for every model that has entered, left or moved through one or more areas of dangerous terrain during its move.On a roll of a 1 the model(s) take a wound with no armor or cover saves allowed.

pg15- The Shooting Sequence- The order of fire. Check line of sight and pick a target, Check your range, Roll to hit, Roll to wound, Take saves and remove the dead.

pg15- Disallowed Shooting- Sometime you may not be able to shoot with a unit. There are several differnet reasons why a unit may not be able to shoot. Two very common reasons are, The unit has run and Units locked in close combat.

pg16- RUN!!-During the shooting phase units may elect to not shoot and instead run. To run roll 1D6 and move the distance indicated. Running is not affected by difficult terrain.

pg16- Which models can fire?- All models in a firing unit that have line of sight (LOS) to at least one model in a target unit can fire. A player can choose to not fire with certain models in a unit.

pg17- Roll to hit- To hit, subtract your BS (ballistic skill) from 7. The outcome is the number you need on D6 to hit your target. When rolling to hit, a roll of a 1 is automatically a miss.

pg18- BS6 or better- If a model has a BS of 6 or higher, you may re-roll to hit whenever you roll a 1. However the second roll normally has a lower chance of hitting.

pg18- Cool picture of some marines hodling off a horde. Notice the chapter banner carrier at the top of the hill. He's missing an arm but he's still in the fight. Nothing says hardcore like beating aliens to death with a flagpole.

pg19- Roll to wound- To find out if you wound a model compare the strength of the weapon with the toughness of the enemy model. There is a chart on page 19 that will help you with this. Run the chart and find the number you need to roll on a D6 to cause a wound.

pg19- Multiple Toughness values- Roll to wound using the Toughness characteristic that is the majority of the enemy unit. If there is NO majority use the highest value in the enemy unit.

pg19- Cocked dice and Dice on the floor- Dice that roll off the table and onto the floor never count and should be re-rolled. Cocked dice are generally re-rolled if the outcome is unattainable. It is perfectly alright to roll your dice on a tray or to the side of the board in a box lid. When in doubt ask your opponent if it's ok with them.

Back to the BASICS...1-10

So I've noticed that basic rules and other rules questions are showing up quite frequently now in our blogs. Several of these have actually been introduced by me coming from games I have recently played. I've also noticed a few of us myself included are popping the old BRB (basic rule book) out and re-reading and taking notes. I have noticed in a few recent games and even in my last tournaments that some of the most basic of rules is misread or not followed or just not known,(this also includes me) by players. Some of this can be attributed to not knowing the rules, trying to learn another new edition, I still revert to 3rd every now and then and 4th pops up all the time. However I always have the book handy and if the question nags at me I pop it out and verify. Usually I find that I am wrong. So in an effort to throw out some things and maybe help out some newer players who haven't really fine toothed the book like some of us I am going to put together a few posts going over a few things from the rulebook I think are good to know. This isn't a totally rewritten rule book as GW would fry me. I am just going to go through 10 pages at a time and throw out some things.
without further waiting pages 1-10 (most likely the smallest of reviews as it's very very basic welcome to the game stuff.)

Pg2-(probably the most important rule of the game(s)) "the most important rule is that rules aren't all that important. So long as both players agree, you can treat them as guidelines. the choice is entirely yours." this goes into conjunction with the paragraph above it that states this important statement, "winning at any cost is less important than making sure both players-not just the victor-have a good time."
Essentially-HAVE FUN!!

Pg2- Rolling a D3, There are some 3 sided dies out there but I can name on 1 hand the number of people I know that have 1, (I do.) So, roll a D6 (six sided dice, your basic dice.) and halve the scores. 1 or 2 = 1, 3 or 4 = 2 and 5 or 6 = 3.

Pg2- modifying dice rolls, adding to dice (D6+1 etc.) or multiple dice rolls (2D6 etc.) and multipliers (D6x3 etc.) Pretty basic I know, to add you just roll a D6 and add the number they tell you. Multiples you just roll the listed number of D6's. And multipliers you roll your D6(s) and take the result then multiply it by the listed number.

Pg3- Bases. "Some players like to mount their models on impressive scenic bases. As mounting your models on different size bases might affect the way they interact with the rules, make sure before game that your opponent does not mind this.
I do this a lot for some of my named characters. I always ask if it's cool with the person I'm playing if the model is acceptable. Usually it is because it's a benefit for them, they stand higher and he can reach them faster. This is also a benefit for me sometimes. I just think it looks really cool.

Pg6- (A) ATTACKS- This just happened recently and I thought you know what I can see how this can be mistaken if you haven't fully read the rules and are just starting. Your opponent says "what ya shooting?" You say, "The plasma pistol." He not knowing the plasma pistol setup says, "how many shots does it have?" You say, "ummm lets see his chart says he has 4 attacks."
Nope, the A characteristic indicates the number of dice a character rolls when fighting in close combat (C/C.) (shooting comes in the later pages)

Pg7- Multiple Modifiers- If a model has a combo. of rules or gear that "both" add to and multiply its characteristics, first multiply the base value then add your extra point(s). (ex. model with base S3 has +1S and double strength. Multiply S3 by 2, 2x3=6 then add the +1, 6+1=7, your new strength. Not the other way around.

Pg8- Characteristic tests- You roll 1D6 and try to be equal to or lower than your characteristic. However if a 6 is rolled you auto fail, and if a 1 is rolled you automatically pass.

Pg8- Leadership tests (morale checks) for these you roll 2D6 and the result needs to be equal to or lower than your base value.

Pg9- Turn sequence (three phases.)
1-Movement phase, you can move any of your units that are capable of moving in this round. You don't have to move anything.
2-Shooting phase, The player can shoot with any unit that can see an enemy unit and is able to shoot. This is also the phase in which you can RUN!!!
3-Assault phase, The player can move any of his units into assault with the enemy if they are in range and capable of assaulting. Both forces fight in the assault. More on this in the assault chapter.

Monday night games and the new pics.

So we played 2 games Monday. Lach and I at 2000 points and then Lach and JC our new member at 1500.
Game 1 was My shrike force (marines) vs Lachs Necs. Long story short, we tied. And we spent a good deal of the game....Debating, (the wife has deemed it arguing.) this actually happened in both games. And I dunno why, I think we've both just gotten really competitive. I conceded on most things and am now doing a page by page rulebook re-read and taking notes. I was wrong on a few things, as was Lach and I'm the first to say I was wrong. One big question I have though is dreadnoughts in c/c. In walkers it says they still get an attack regardless of how many immobilized results etc. But it also says they roll on the damage table for vehicles. I had no arms left but was in an assault with his lord. he hit first and did a weapon destroyed. I had no weapons other than my feet to kick, i/e my one attack. I become immobile. Fine I still get to attack per the walker rules. However I get another weapon destroyed which per the vehicle table means I'm a wreck. I argued the fact I still had an attack because per the walker rules I still have an attack from being immobilized, so thechnically i'm not immobilized I still get to fight cause I basically just got immobilized again. In the end I just removed the dread. Maybe I'm just over thinking it. Maybe I'm wrong (probably am). Thoughts?
Anyway game 2 was necs vs' JC's Chaos it was his first big game and even though he lost 2 to 3 in KP's I think he had fun and will want to play some more. Sidenote OMG ABADDON is a BEAST!!!!
Oh and a YAY me side note I did manage to kill off the deceiver with pistol shooting from shrikes unit. woot. That's about it Pics are below, I'm hoping my I don't want to paint funk gets over soon. If not I still got a ton of stuff to build. Also I'm putting a poll on the side for my Nid army name, vote if you'd like to.

The Old crow Half track, converted into an assault cannon razorback. If it was half an inch taller there would be no difference in the 2 sizes. I added Ork truck wheels, an IG plow, And a homemade assault turret. I had a Rhino hatch on it but it didn't work with the Turret. Sorry about the darkness and the little bit of blur. I was trying a dark backdrop vs' a light for the resin.

Little bit of dreadnought fun.

Was having a little dread fun and decided to see what kinda list I could build. Made up a quick 1500 that I may give a go later.

TROOPS-2-10 man squads in razorbacks with assault cannons.
here's the fun,
Elites- Dread w/melta, Dread w/melta, Dread w/melta
Heavy- Ven Dread w/ assault can., Ven dread w/ assault can., Ironclad w/flamer PODS for all 3.

-The troops and Forgefather hang in the back doing whatever. The three regular dreads move forward as best as possible. One ven and the ironclad pod in, in round 1 behind the lines. hopefully ven 2 comes in in 2. The dreads just run around and kill as much as they can. It's a silly list really but all the dread talk on the forums got me wanting to do something with all my dreads so I made this. I figure a lot of dead dreads, but you never know.

Lastly, I'm still looking for help with my command squad question,(does your captain have to be attached or not? See previous post.I can't figure out how to add a link.)if anyone can throw me a bone. And I also finished up three new models, Two razorbacks and a Whirlwind/rhino/razor (removable mounts.) One of the Razor's is a converted Old Crow Miniature model, Old Crow, has some really nice stuff plus they were friendly and easy to deal with, I'll be shopping with them again. I took pics but I have to hunt down my usb cord. I think it's somewhere in the vacation bags.

2 new lists and game question HELP!!!

So let me lead off with I got rid of word verification so maybe I can get some comments, (one can hope.)
First things here's the question i need help with. If you take a command squad for your SM captain does the captain have to be attached to it? The squad is not listed as a retinue or bodyguard etc as stated in the rulebook. There's nothing in the independent character area that I can find about it and there's no command squad entry in the brb. I am going under the impression that he can leave them behind to moniter from somewhere else in the field say with some of your other troops. Thoughts anyone?? And if you know of an exact place in the brb where it says he's stuck I'd love to know it so I can stop reading the same pages over and over.

And second here's the two lists im thinking about using in some games on Monday.

-Idea is Shrike attaches to the 10 pack marines and infiltrates. pushing c/c as fast as possible. the dreads come in in round 1 the locator beacon is used for the no pack assault marines to get in close without scattering. All pods go behind the lines and try to get into some c/c. The LRC and the two rhinos come in at start and the rhinos push towards objectives or blocking points. The LRC heads toward front line enemies and gets the Terms out to fight. The scouts infliltrate onto a objective if they can or get into a nice firing point, they wont do anything spectacular but they can change a game. The whole army has fleet with Shrike so closing with the dreads and the Terms isn't going to be to hard if I can get em where I want em.

-Same general theory as the list above except that Shrike rolls with the chaplain and the Vanguard they Infiltrate in and rush for c/c. The command squad comes in at beginning of game and moves forward to reinforce one of the 5 mans or the sternguard. The stern and troops go for objectives or bocking areas. The dread and terms go behind the lines pod no problem, hoping my deepstrike doesn't screw up on the Terms. Stern finds a firing point at an objective or a kill point area and lays down death. This hopefully blocks in my opponent and forces him to move forward into bullets or hold and face death from the Shrike force.

The Multi-parter...

Well the vacation is over and it's back to the real world, (sigh) we had a great time and now own a new camera (some Nikon the wife had to have that's about as small as a credit card and takes great pictures, that I'm also not allowed to touch.) and some art, yes real art, that I won in an art auction on the boat. If you've never done an art auction I highly recommend them, it was really fun and very educational. Even if you don't bid on anything it's fun and there was free champagne. However with those developments and a rather large alcohol bill my available funds for 40k have been put on hold for a little bit. I had to back out of buying the Genestealers I wanted and my Tyranids are on hold, model wise for the time being. But did the taxes the other day and have a nice return coming so maybe I'll be able to get my list put into mini form some time soon.
However, in there greatness GW is releasing the new plastic ven's which I'll have to buy for my chaplain dreadnought. Which also brings me to the new Blood Angels dex. I've never really wanted to be a Blood Angel but with the rumor dex floating around and all the possibilities of assault greatness I'm hearing I feel the red thirst coming over me. I love assault armies I always have. Anyone who has played me knows I try to get into assault as fast as possible and build lists around that idea. My nids are all assault based with no shooting, my deathwing whilst they can shoot, generally just push forward as hard as they can to get into assault and my regular marine lists always have 2 to 3 assault teams. If the rumor dex is remotely close to true the new BA are right up my alley, plus they new Tantalus, I've been drooling over that since I first heard about it. However I'm not going to be repainting my army. I'm staying in my DA colors, I have a nice fluff for it and a pretty sweet chapter name that was a joke that turned out to work great. We'll see what happens when the codex actually comes out though. I really hate turning away from my DA's but really it's about fun and to me the new BA dex is more up my alley. I'll still be using the DA dex to run my deathwing but.... the SANGUINUS KERMITUS may be in my future. More on that idea at a later date. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated, ie. is it cheesy that I'm not repainting? Should I just wait for a new DA? (who knows when that will happen.) etc. I don't wanna be that guy, you know the one who shows up with the new codex dressed in ultramarine colors. But I really do have a nice flluffy background for why my BA are all in green, I think it's cool.
Also while on the cruise I read and finished Salamanders and Courage and Honor. Loved courage and Honor it really made up for the book before it and fell into line with the Uriel story perfectly. I can't wait for Chapter's Due. Salamander was good, but it started slow and took me a minute to really get going. It finished great with lots of fighting and insight that left me wanting to buy book 2 when it comes out. The only big gripe was Nick (author) really needs to help me out, his names while most likely being what real Salamanders names would be were hard to keep reading over and over as I have no idea how they are supposed to be said. So I ended up just renaming characters Ed and Tom and Kirby. Both were good reads though and I recommend them. Finally, if you have made it this far, first off thanks. Secondly, I'm in the process of finishing a Rhino and a Whirlwind, as well as a converted Assault Cannon Razorback. The drop pods are on the table as well as the LR redeemer. Finally my new 2k points nid list looks a little something like this. (no fancy totals and add-ons just what I'm taking, more on that as I get models and start building.

Walking tyrant-Flying Tyrant-30 genestealers- 10 warriors-5 Shrike-Trygon Prime.

I've play tested it once already and it did well, I'm hopefully gonna play test it again Monday with but we'll see as I'm slowly recovering from a surgery I just had, (another reason for lack of funds.) I may end up just watching Lach and JC play but I really want to get in a game or two. we'll see, more to come later.

So I decided to build some more today and did a little prime work but ran out of spray so stopped short but its all good cause i got conversion happy too. Anyway what started as 2 dreads
1 regular and 1 venerable see below...

became
2 new regulars from the blackreach kit with meltas and power fists. And 1 soon to be ancient and venerable original dread (he's so tiny.) he comes with a power fist and a converted assault cannon arm.
next up...
the newest Venerable with multiple load outs, converted to stand higher and is wielding a autocannon/heavy bolter arm and a powerclaw w/flamer arm. See other loadouts below.
and the newest behemoth of the bunch.
the Ironclad, when i think Ironclad I think big mean I come out and destroy everything. He's converted to be a quad walker. he's wielding a seismic hammer with melta. A c/c power claw arm with Melta attachment and blade (he can only have the 1 melta but it's just for looks and meaness factor.) he's been heightened and tweaked. He's got a ton of armor pieces and ribbons badges, scrolls etc. that I haven't finished, well even started working on yet. so he looks kinda brittle and naked-ish but when they get done he'll be a mean son of a gun, I hope. I love him though so that's what counts.
Here's the optional weapon loads for the ironclad and the new ven. Hurricane bolter, lascannon/assault cannon arm (again I know you can only use 1 I just like having different builds. Plus I always look at it like why would you go to war with 1 gun when you can bring the lot.) the heavy bolter/autocannon arm. the Power claw/melta arm. My converted HK missile rack and the seismic hammer with melta. I didn't put the other power claw arm with flamer but it's been converted to be longer and bent so he's more action posed.
More to come of the new 5 as i Get them primed and painted. Doing some of it tomorrow and playing a few games to hopefully.

And lastly I leave you with my next project which is on hold until I get back from the Bahamas, (thank GOD for vacations.)

Tyranid 2k test game 1

So I finished my first game with the new nids, all proxied by cowboys and indians plastic toys. HMMMM what can I say I'm so so at the moment. I think I miss the old codex but I really like some stuff from the new codex.

First off the results. No long battle report here lets just say it was going very very bad for me, bad dice rolls, I forgot the ap rules (i'm to used to marines) so when my lictor and genestealers started instantly dying without saves to ap4 and ap 5 guns I was like wtf. I had a few moments of stupidity but I did manage to pull off a few things. Final result was a win due to phase, thank god I remembered he phased or it would have been a loss on kill points 7 him 3 me it was an anhil. match. I found myself getting angry which is odd cause I usually don't get angry during the game, but not knowing the new nids and having to look up rules and generally playing with a whole new army I don't totally know it got rather frustrating. But it was a win at but not a great victorious win. This was a humbling game to say the least.

Here's the list I am using atm, I may be making some changes. O.K. before ppl go off and say WHAT ARE YOU STUPID....my list is based around a theme. ENTER Hive Fleet Dentis Nail, basically hive fleet tooth and nail. My army has no real shooting at all minus a few things that just come with models. I am solely doing claws, teeth, talons, and fangs. It's just to me more of what giant bugs in space would be also it's more ALIENS to me which is what I'm going for. Anyway here's my list without a lot of detail, I think I have adrenal glands on just about everything.

Tyrant with 2+ not wings.

Lictor

2x 5 man Warriors. (1 set in a spore pod the other in reserve arriving through tunnels.)

2x 10 man Genestealers. Coming in on the flanks (I didn't do 1 unit in this game and they decided to assault a monolith which was just dumb I couldn't hurt it at all and they just got shot to death.)

Carni in pod (Got run down by the Deciever Morale checks will hurt you when you have a super wound model who has to roll leadership tests at a minus 3 or 4 cause he took that many wounds.)

Trygon Prime (love it)

then with the left over I had two options 14 Horms with adrenal and toxin or a tyrant guard and an extra spore for my 2nd warriors. I took the gaunts and ran them with the tyrant. Which worked cause she took a ton of shots but never a wound. the Horms. just ran in and assaulted as fast as they could and finally got killed off. they were just fodder anyways. All in all I like the list for theme but I don't see it winning a ton unless I can get into you and hurt you fast. The ap rules killed me since saves were negated big time. But the high toughness of some of em kept me just taking wounds instead of dying outright. I think I may pull a Carni and go 2x Trygons one prime one normal. But it's still all in play test.

Again it was a good game and the list we put together for Lachs necs (that he tweaked) is gonna be sweet I think we have a winner no I aint sharing it that's his baby (but let me just say they may be outdated but I found out today they are mean and evil regardless some of there outdatedness has given them a huge benefit.) If he hadn't given me the window I wouldn't have jumped through for the phase out he had me. Luckily I got the phase, a win but boy at a cost (side note why has winning become so important, we had a long talk about this, were testing lists for tourny but it's just wierd it's almost like was I playing to have fun or just win? anyway that's another story.) Any helpful ideas from the nid guys out there would be greatly appreciated. But let me just say NO I really don't want to put in guns I like my theme and really wanna keep it the way it is. I think I have potential just gotta find my list and get into assault faster with things I can hurt not just Monoliths.

PS the C'tan gods OMG man all I can say is OMG....

The Triple Threat

Well I wasn't able to finish three in a day, but i did finally finish them all. And as promised here they are (photos below.) Don't you just love the feel of superglue on your fingers? Anyway I'm happy with them and am looking forward to using them in the near future, even if it is just for objectives. Oh and sorry for the photos they're not great but the wife kicked me out of the living room so they had to be photoed on there shelf in the man cave. With these completed and the new nid codex having been broken in (my 2000 point list is finished and ready for play test, I'll post it here in a few.) I'm putting the forces of the Imperium aside and starting my Xenos. If the list works like I hope it will then I have to make a mighty purchase from the boys at GW (insert happy but sad sigh) and then it's off to build and paint up for tourny time 2010.

So, I finished reading the first Gaunt's Ghost's omni. and it got me itching again. So i pulled out a few boxes and started building. I now have 2 of three baneblades built (well a blade a hellhammer and the stormsword is in progress I ran out of glue. Pics to be posted soon.) That was a huge build event and I am sort of tired of building at the moment my fingers are glued, cut, and sore, but I'm not stopping. Had Lach and our newest player JC over on Monday and we got a few games in. I won the first tied my 2nd against JC who we were teaching the game too and was utterly tabled and destroyed in my third, thanks for hosing me Lach (note to all- Don't put a dreadnought in the middle of the field with no cover and then expect him to survive 40 shots from gauss weapons.) Anyway I'm back in the game mode and have started looking at tournaments to go too. We were thinking maybe BOLSCON or the exterminatus again but we haven't seen anything from the exterminatus ppl on the web yet. I'm anxiously awaiting my nid codex and I'm super excited about starting my nid army. Still working on my marines but there sort of back burner atm. Anyway as promised pics of the 3 super heavies coming and more from me as I get back into gear.

Not really an update or anything, but, I've been reading all the new threads about Wolves and Guardsmen and I've been trying to build an effective yet fun tourny list. I'm building around a 2k point base as that is what the tourny I will most likely be going to again is set at. I have two army list set ups right now, 1-DA and 1-SM. They're kinda cheesy but I learned last tournament that just about everyones army is, and well i need some effective killing power with my DA while at the same time playing the boys that made me make a DA to begin with. The SM army is sorta just a fun army but with some elements that should let me pull a few cards from my sleeve. anyway, here goes the lists.

Belial and Int. Chaplain
Belials Term squad- Apothecary, Standard bearer, 2x Light. claws, pwr. weapon/storm bolter.
Term squad 1-Ass., chain fist/storm bolter, pwr. weapon/storm bolter, 2x standard terms.
Term squad 2-pwr. weapon/storm bolter, 2x chain fist/storm bolter, 2x standard terms.
Term squad 3-pwr weapon/storm bolter, 4x Light. claws
Term squad 4- Ass. can/chain fist, chain fist/storm bolter, pwr. weapon/storm bolter, 2x standard terms.
(total of 5 termy squads Chaplain is attached to Belials unit.)

-The other 3 term. units will be broke up and arrive via DW assault. All units are scoring. There's not alot of models but what's out there is tough. I know meltas are gonna be a problem, but I think I can survive some templates. Just have to see as theres not much of a group around here to play test it.

-Cheesy only taking 2 5 man tacs. but I really wanna use the stern and van. The dread is dead i'm ready for that he's a decoy though and maybe he kills some folks. The pod with the beacon is key, because the terms will deep strike in close to that for hopefully a survival turn then some assault damage. Drop the pod on some troops scatter an inch and then get some terms in. the rhinos move forward and cover drop the tacs on objectives then block. The stern move up and cover fire/pop some metal. The chaplain/shrike and vangaurd join up (see ?? below.) and infil. then move in and hopefully either a round 1 or at most round 2 assault hit and some death. the command squad hangs back behind the rhinos and provides a cover unit for an objective or hops in an empty rhino and moves forward after the tac squad leaves. Again hard to play test with no group to play with.

And now for my two questions, I've been reading the rules and my 2 codex's because during my last tourny I got hit with a rule I didn't know but I think it's not a rule.
1- Can bikers assault onto 2nd levels of buildings? There not listed as vehicles so technically you roll to see if they can via dangerous terrain if they pass they do, yes/no? I can't find it in the rules, I know vehicles can't but bikes are not listed as vehicles. I know jet bikes can but marine bikes aren't jet bikes. Little help here. Also if it's no can you give me some page numbers. Hopefully I wasn't cheated.
and
2- Does the command squad bought for a captain have to be attached to the captain? If so my shrike hit and run assault vanguard chaplain team just got seriously slowed down. So I may have to drop them and bring something else. Can't find a definitive ruling on that in the dex's or the rules either.

**THE EMPEROR PROTECTS**

So have you ever had a book that no matter how hard you try you just can't finish it? That's how Warrior Coven was for me. I've been trying to read it since January and usually get about 3 pages in before i put it down again. In the mean time I have been mixing in other books to have some thing to actually read. I finished Dawn of War II that was a really good read. It went pretty fast and was fun to read. I actually felt the need to finish it. Then I threw in the Blood Angles omnibus which is an exceptional read. I just made it to part 2 and have only been reading it for about a week now. But amongst all these I threw in The deathly Hallows, just trying to catch up on my harry potter with the new flicks out. But amongst it all I finally sat down last night and forced myself to finish Warrior Coven....what can I say...I hated it, nothing got clarified from warrior brood and nothing got clarified from warrior coven. It just ends and yet agian I feel myself wondering where did those 4 hours go. Anyway enoough of the book reviews I'll have more later as I have the new DA book coming as well as Salamandeders the newest Ultramine story line book and heroes of Ultramar. I may need to go check the shelves and see if I don't have something else I haven't read waiting in the wings. With my Boston trip coming up in 4 days i'm gonna need something for the trip.

On to the other news. I bought DoW2 since it was on sale for 25$. It plays very well and I enjoy it. The good thing though is it has really boosted my wanting to build and play levels. So I broke out all my nids and have started building a solid list and setting aside what I have and building a what I need list. I also put the old Hive Tyrant I bought in some power disolver. It's been in the gel for 2 days now and i'm gonna see what comes off in a few hours. I'll post some pics of it ASAP.

Lastly since im relatively new to nids and still looking for a happy medium as well as some modelling ideas (I don't like just looking standard) does anyone know of some good nid sites or do you have a nid site? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also Lach and I are still looking for some more people to get some games in with in the Tuscaloosa area or surrounding area. Drop me a line and we will see what we can do.

Back in the saddle

So I've been out of the game since the tournament, some of you may remember me, most of you on FTW now probably have no clue who I am. All that aside I played a quick fun 500 pointer with my Nids (proxied by plastic Cowboys and Indians.) against Lachs new proxied Orks. The tournament took alot out of me and brought me back into the angry dark side of the game. Alas I have re-found my way in the force and come back to the light. I've still been buying stuff (landing pads, defense lines, Valkyries, Nids, and more.) and am slowly getting back into the feel of it all again. So expect to see me posting again and throwing out some new pics (we bought a new house and I have a ME room now.) of the marines and my new obsession the Nids. Also (shameless plug) Lach and I are from Tuscaloosa AL, (ROLL TIDE, I know there's a eagle fan somewhere out there I saw the post.) were looking for some other players so we can get in a game not against each other sometime. So if your In the T-Town area or within driving range drop me a shout so we can try and meet up and get some gaming in. Lastly- It's good to be back, I thought I had lost the bug but I feel it creeping back in, I'm already sprueing models the sternguard, vanguard and Nid warriors are all ready for glue.

Tournament Coverage (long)

Well I'm at work and forgot to upload pictures so no shots from the event yet. However I figured I would post up the results and a few tidbits about my battles. First off let me say that the doubles tournament started great we played a jolly couple of guys who we would later hang out with and go drinking. We were then turn 3 tabled and destroyed by a nob biker army. That was the start of the ruin of the game for us. The last round we played the two guys who are fun and cool until you start beating them and well then they become jerks. Well needless to say Lachlan didn't agree. But i'll let him thell that story. Ill just say tears ensued. After the doubles we were both so pissed we almost quit and didnt come back. That would have been a mistake. So here goes how the actual tournament went.

I was running a DA list- Belial, Int. Chaplain, 3 term squads, assault squad, devestator squad, a 6 man bike squad, and a 5 man tac in a rhino. Pretty small but effective in the right circumstances. I was gonna take 6 term squads with 2 LRC's but I didnt want to be the cheese army guy who everyone hated. Which looking back now, next tournament i may just have to bring the cheese, especially if you hit the upper tears of players. Anyway hindsight is 20/20 and it took more skill to play my list and I had some good fun with it. The tourny consisted of 5 rounds over 2 days. each round had a mission with a secondary and a tertiary objective. you earned points for completing the objectives as well as the main mission. The guy running it (Joe) is a 40k guru and from what I hear he is the man and has several tourny wins GD wins and several Golden Demons and other painting awards. He was pretty awesome too. Let the games begin.

My first round I drew against a Sisters of Battle player named Matt. He was a great guy and a great player. I would lose this round but it was the most fun i've ever had losing. Highlights were me assaulting a pentient engine and taking it down with my terms, however I misjudged the naked female acroflagelants and well lets say 5 chicks hittin like a dreadnought can take down some terms. I mis striked Belial in a deepstrike and learned very quickly what faith bullets cna do to a group of terminators. I did pop both of his rhinos in round 1 and made him footslog the board. My bikes and assault squads smashed into some sisters and destroyed them. However it was an objective match and I couldn't cover all 5 of the objectives. It ended with me having 1 and him getting 2. I went first and couldnt get the bikes over to contest his 2 at the end of 5. Turn 6 I may have pulled it off but it didnt happen so who knows.

Round 2 I ended up playing Mel the store owners wife. A very attractive woman who knew her sisters of battle. This game was a ton of fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was a pitched battle with capture and control. I fortified my building with my 2 dev combat squads and 2 term squads. She put a whole squad of sisters in hers. Highlights. I popped all her rhinos and killed a ton of sisters. She was running a sqquad fo pentient engines and I managed to immobilize both of em but couldnt kill em and they ended up sitting in her base and kept me from claiming. I forgot how tough they were and would assault them with belial only to see him get destroyed. She tried to get some sisters into my base but the terms just shredded them. My bikes and assault squads hit her building hard with belial and killed everything. Highpoint for her she had a priestess hold out thruogh 3 rounds of c/c that lady just would not go down. My assault squad would take the objective but would get killed by fire from the pentients. My rhino snuck up and I got the 5 man into her base. However she contested and I held mine so the game ended as a draw. I did manage to kill her general and had more victory points so i got the secondary and tertiary objectives. Another great game.

Round 3. I played a young kid with a eldar tank destroying army. However I only had the Rhino. It was a spearhead setup and annhilation. I went first this round and he made the mistake of getting to close in his deployment. Round 5 was supposed to start nightfight but I had it won in the top of round 4. Highlights I assaulted and assaulted hard and killed everything. He managed to kill a few guys but it wasn't enough. I took it and got the win the secondary and the tertiary. Jacob was the kids name and he was a great player and a great sport we had alot of fun and even though he lost he had fun. He told me after he was built for armor and I didn't have any.

That was the end of day 1 and I was sitting with enough points to put me in the highpart of the low group. I had 1 loss, 1 win, and 1 draw. Lach and I had a ton of fun and I got back into why I loved the game. I'm glad we didnt quit after the doubles. We also met a few guys who were awesome and we all went out after the end of the rounds and hit a lil mexican restaraunt called margarittas which oddly enough didnt serve margaritas. But they did have huge beers so we drank a few and had some laughs with some good peoples.

Day 2, round 4. This was a custom setup on angles and was a victory point game. I played a guy named well I can't remember his name but lets just say in day 1 he had a dice issue. (I'll let lach tell that story *cough Loaded Cough*) He was playing a beautifully painted Blood Ravens force. I went first again and had a great round 1. I immobilized a landraider blew up a vindicator, deepstriked my terminators behind a rhino and assualt cannoned it and blew it up. And I ripped the assault cannon off his other land raider. This move would make him take everything he had and turn it around to kill my 5 terminators. great for me cause it gave me a safe round 2. He dropped his drop pod down behind my assault team but couldnt asssault with his dreadnought inside. He did flame them but none died. In round 2 I would jump behind him and lay in with 3 plasma pistols. Dreadnought Destroyed. He also turned his ass to me with his last surviving LR he literally sent everything he had to kill 5 terminators. well that just begged for a lascannon shot. Well 2 shots later land raider 2 was down. Now all his troops and commander are hoofin it. turn 3 saw the entry of his 10 man lightning claw/SS,TH terminators. They deepsriked right beside one of my las teams. I couldnt get Belial on this round so he took a ton of fire but those 3 plus invulns kept all but 1 terminator alive. Bad part on him though he left me room to get Belial in. Turn 4 Belial comes in from reserve, it was a special rule for this mission. I walked in right behind his team of terminators and after no deaths from shooting I assaulted him hard. This would be abloody round 4 and after both sides settled I had no Belial squad left and he had 1 ss/th terminator left. Well the top of 5 saw me annhilate that guy to fire. He never moved any of his foot sloggers from round 3 on they just stayed in his back corner. I guess he thought his terminators would do it for him. The game rolled to end at the end of 5 and I got another win. That one was for you Lach. Although he tried to convince me he had more points left than I did, however after we both checked the math I had 1100 points left and he had 800 left so i got the W. It was a ok game not the greatest but not bad. This win would push me into the lower tear of guys. This is the tear of the guys who wont take 1st 2nd or 3rd but are still in the gourp of guys who had no losses till the got to day 2 and started playing the elite tear of players.

Round 5.....Sigh what can I say. I played Orks not biker nobs but orks and I mean ork a wave of them. 90 plus orks with 2 battle wagons and 2 trucks. It was pitched battle and the goal was to get more guys in your opponents deployment zone. I ended up having to go first. Highlight I killed both trucks. Thats it, I was then steamrolled. And i do mean steamrolled. Belials squad attacked a grot squad and they assualted me. It was funny the funniest part was belial grand master of the deathwing missed all 6 shots and didnt kill a grot. Oh well, I managed to kill 30 or so of the 90, but he killed everything I had leaving just Belial alive in his deployment zone. The game went to turn 6 and ended with him having way more models in my deployment than I had in his. It was a ok game not bad in any means but it was one of those games where you just are stadning there waitnig for the inevitable, I couldn't beat him after round 2 and it was just me trying to kill some stuff. He was a great player and knew the game very well. So I ended on a loss.

Total overall 2 losses, 2 wins, and a draw.

We got our results yesterday and heres where I placed.

I was 18th out of 42 players, that made me feel great I wasn't top 10 but top 20 in my first RTT made me feel good. I earned 122 points overall, the winned I think had 160ish. I had 50 points overall in tournament rounds for wind and objectives. I had 12 points in sportsmanship which means I got the highest I could in each round and 1 player voted me favorite opponent. I got full point in painting and composition 35/25. It was cool I placed well for what I wanted and I am still wanting to play the game. I had a good overal time and will probably end up playing in a few more tournaments now. Met some good people and had some fun. I wish my gaming store here was even a 10th of what the DICEHEAD in Cleveland Tennessee is.

Thanks to Shane and Mel for hosting it they own the 2 DICEHEAD stores in Chattanooga nd Cleveland. Oh and thanks to Joe for running the tournament and keeping us all in good spirits.

I leave you with a few side notes. 1 Sister of Battle won the tournament that army was sick and decimated the biker nobs in turn 3. Those ladies, when played like the guy who played them, are unstoppable. There were some armies there that people don't think are worthy in 5th well lets just say wait till you see em. SoB, Grey Knights, Dark Eldar and even Lachs Necrons showed some people not to underestimate them. Ork biker nobs are incredibly hard to beat I mean incredibly hard to beat and well I didn't even come close to beating them. Chaos Demons are viscious, saw a cool 3 soulgrinder army giving some hurt to alot of people. Thats about it, I have some pictures I think Lachlan has more and I will get them up as soon as I can. I leave you with my top 5 tournament things to not do for 09.

1-Never begin your supposedly helpful comment to two pissed off players with "I'm not trying to be a dick but..." If you have to start it with that well guess what you're being a dick.

2-Never and I mean never threaten to kill your opponent. Really it's gonna be ok it's just a game.(this happened in round 2, I was playing beside the 2 guys when it happened and lets just say the crazy guy with his kmart buggy didnt come back for day 2. The guy I knew, he was a great guy too, told the guy he was done and it was his turn he said it politely and no normal person would have thought anything of it. The crazy guy he was playing then flipped out and went crazy, really, and started going off. he then threatened to kill the guy I knew.)

3-Never buy your dice off EBAY and wonder why you get called out for having loaded dice. (I mean c'mon you didnt notice you never roll a 1, or 2....NEVER.)

4-Never underestimate yourself or what your army can do.

5- Never argue the physics of math with Lachlan. A 3" template moving 4" away should never be able to hit you. It's mathmatically impossible. Well unless you wanna cry don't bring that to Lachlans table.

So I haven't slept in almost 2 days now...but I have finished the army off well 2k points of it and have my board ready for the exterminatus. Me and Lach are heading off tomorrow for some jolly fun at the 40k tourny. It'll probably be my funeral but I'm still psyched. Really looking forward to the doubles tournament this evening. Anyway I took some quick shots of the stuff. Sorry there not my best photos but I'm tired and I didn't have anything really big and white to put behind the board. 1 of the shots may be a little blurry or maybe its just me not really sure. Almost tourny time...

So the tournament is next week and I was behind on some painting so I strapped on the painting cap and settled in for 2 days of work. Well more like 12 hours, 6 or so each day. Anyway I got all the models I needed to be built finished. Then I primed everything. Day one I did the bike squad. Day 2, I finished off the bike riders and did the two new squad terminator sergeants. Anyway I know I haven't posted pics. in a while but here's the newest stuff. I'll try and get some better bike squad shots. I'm tired so I'm not in the mod to do photo work, that and my hands, fingers, neck and back all hurt at the moment. All I have left to finish now is 6 terminators ( thankfully they are green and not black.) and the Rhino. Then my army will be ready for the 14th. I'm gonna be working on a fluff story for the tourney and will be naming everyone tonight. Anyway here's the new stuff.

I know I've been away for a minute but well, got back from vacation as I said earlier posting. However a day after I got back I got seriously seriously ill, (ear infection and sinus infection ill.) was down for a few days and didn't really accomplish anything 40k wise or anything else wise. I was gonna play a game or two with Lach but that didn't happen either. I finally got up and around again a few days ago, and played a game with my 2000 point list. This is the list I will hopefully be using for the exterminatus. Which means I have some painting work to do and quickly. The game as Lach wrote ended in a tie but I think the army did pretty well for itself. So I was gonna throw it out and see if you out there would throw me a pointer or two.
My original list was 5 term squads and 2 LR's one normal and one crusader. I scrapped that and went with another idea that gave me more options and some movers. Here's the new list.

That's my list at 2000 points The terminators move forward or deep strike the razorback team stays inside and moves to objectives and uses the razor as cover. The bikers stay back and zoom up to (fritz, LoL) grab objectives in the last minutes. The assault marines zoom around getting into c/c or sacrifice to stop fast movers. The dev team splits into 5/5 one las and plas in each and stand back and shoots down cover fire and takes out tanks (hopefully, as the las cannons in the last game missed every time.)
So what do you think. I have everything except 2 term squads 5 bikes and the razorback finished. I should be able to accomplish that by the 14th. I was debating dropping the razorback team for a Ven. dread. or maybe working them to try and fit in a speeder but I would have to paint that up too. Any advice is great I know it's short notice and all, and well this will be my first big tourny that wasn't run at a local store with people I knew. I kinda wanna do semi good or at least just not get my ass handed to me every round.
Oh I also gotta get my display board done. Which I bought a 11x7 picture frame I'm gonna pull the glass form and do a quick board.

Well the vacation is over. I wish it wasn't I love the house of the mouse so much, we had so much fun, minus the one night of extreme intoxication where...well let's just say I don't remember a whole lot of it. Coming back to the real world sucked but it had to be done. I logged on yesterday to check the sites and what can I say...I missed a lot. So I was trying to back log and was gonna post comments and all like usual but there is just to much. SO..........EVERYONE DID GREAT..WOW GREAT LOOKING MODELS..SUPER WORK..GREAT JOB..KEEP IT UP...AWESOME STORY..CONGRATS ON THE WIN...THAT LOOKS LIKE A GREAT LIST..AWESOME BIKE RON...DOGS IN THE IMP. GUARD WOW...COOL STORIES...SWEET BATTLE REPORT...JAWABALLS!!!!! WOW nuff said....AWESOME BELIAL....SWEET APOTHECARY TERMINATOR....and lastly (if i missed a kudo shout out, I apologize, there are so many, 11 days puts you way behind.) LACH, I HAVE A FEELING I AM IN TROUBLE, CONGRATS ON THE ANNIVERSARY AND IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT SOME SWEET LOOT, HOPEFULLY BRIT DIDN'T JUST GET SOME PJ'S (lol).
So,
with all that out of the way, I heard from Ron my prize form the basing contest is coming soon. I got my dice WOOT awesome. I think I may try and get a hold of chessex and get some in black and green for my DA. I also got two awesome silver dice from the misses. I will be starting my terminators and the land raiders ASAP since March is only 2 weeks away. I also finally got my order in from Cali. and am now working on a list for my new army. I will be making a list then building this time. But the new army will be my NID army, Tooth and Claw. Expect some posts about a possible army list soon. Plus I should have some more terminator pics. and stuff up in the next week or so. That's about it as of right now. I'll be individually posting again on all your posts starting again tomorrow or the day after most likely.
One last note. I finished The Killing Ground, the 4th part of the Ultramarines story. It was a pretty good read Dead Sky, Black Sun was better but Killing Ground wrapped it up nicely. I also finished book 1 of 2 of the Deathwatch series by C.S. Goto, Warror Brood was a good read and ended nicely, but left me wondering what just happened to a lot of characters. So I started part 2 Warrior Coven and it hasn't explained anything or picked up with any of where we left off. So I am currently disappointed with it but I will keep reading and hopefully get some clarification about what happened between the 2 books.

So with March creeping up on me and my vacation next week I decided I had better get some painting done. I haven't wanted to paint really for a week or so and I really don't want to do termies but since I'm playing DW in the RTT (maybe) I gotta get them done. So I sucked it up and grabbed the chaplain. I'm pretty pleased with him. Theres a few things I wish I had done differently but overall I'm happy. He will be my interrogator chaplain in termy armor. He will be in Belials squad. I wish he wasn't metal I am getting to the point where I hate metal models. There just not as fun as plastic ones. Maybe it's just me. Anyway since he's an old school chaplain term. I had to mount him a little higher so he would mesh with Belials group. So I mounted a washer on the base to give it a lil' height then put him on it. He still looks a little short but I'm trying not to buy new models. Especially when I have models that are perfectly good just a little outdated. Anyhoo without any more rambling here he is...

Basing contest and more......

Well I won world choice in the basing contest with my Belial base. I was really proud of that base and I'm super proud of it now. Thanks to everyone who voted for me. Looking back now I wish I had made a tutorial. But I can easily redo it I think. It was pretty easy actually.

components were:

-Terminator base (the mid range circle)

-3 popsicle sticks

-Glue

-1 LOTR ancient statue terrain piece.
-1 Set of angel wings (thanks battlewagon bits for selling 4 packs)

-1 DA veterans sprue (the large sword was used to make the sword in the statues hand.

-PAINT- black primer/painted with chaos black/painted with a 75/25 chaos black codex gray/drybrush codex gray hard drybrush/medium drygrush 50/50 codex gray and fortress grey/light dry brush fortress gray/Pick out the highlights 50/50 fortress and skull white./skull white for the extreme tips
-Green tinted glass-yes glass thats what I use.

Take the popsicle sticks and lay em side by side touching. lay the base on top. trace the outline of the base on the sticks. Cut out the outline. Dont worry if the sticks splinter or break some that just makes for more textured/older stones. Once the sticks are cut, find points on each piece that you want to seperate to make individual stones. Then cute them apart. next glue them leaving some space between em depending on whats happening to the ground. I left some large spaces here and there for the crystal(glass) shards to be shooting up out of the earth. Let it dry. then prime it black. Once thats done take your statue and glue the wings on the back of it midway between the neck and lower back. Let that dry, then prime it. Once both pieces are primed begin your paint and highlights. Once the statue and base are done glue the statue to the base. Make sure you leave some room for your figure as the statue is pretty big. Let the two pieces set. Now you've pretty much got it. I then went in and painted the cracks between the stones green with snot green in the middle. Then I put in the glass shards. The green helps so when you look down at it it doesnt just look black. Lastly I went back and repainted the side of the base black covering up paint excess. This last step is optional but you can do it if you want. I put a magnet under the base and then magnetized Belials feet. This way he can be removed and the base and Belial can be transported safely.

That's it I'll try and do a redo and picture it so I can post a photo how to but its really pretty simple and it makes for a nice base. I wanted it to be the DA icon that you usually see the Angel watching over them with sword in hand.

(notice the dark green shard on the base in the rear. I pulled it and put a clear one on later as it didnt really work with the other pieces.)

Well I finally quit killing zombies and got around to finishing Belials command squad. The apothecary was done minus the banner which should let people know he's an Apoth. Here he is, I'm happy and not happy with him. Happy because the banner is done in colors i hate using in big amounts, but i tried and did well I think for the most part. I'm unhappy with the symbol cause it's not perfect, but I am happy with it because it was free hand and by far the most challenging free hand thing I've done to date. You can't move forward if you don't try. But anyhoo here he is.

And here is the newest member the Bearer. I am happy with him totally. Well I say that but I haven't blown up the picture yet on the blog so who knows. I am happy with him though. The banner came out way better than I hoped it would. I also did his shoulder cruxes in different colors which makes him pretty unique I think. Anyhoo here he is.

And lastly when you cant find your cheap 99 cent paint tray just use your thumb. Its close and convenient. and the nail really does mix colors well.

Help and Complaints.

OK lets lead this 3fold post off with a quick book report. I just finished Brothers of the Snake, and well WOW definitely a 5 star read. Abnett really captured Space Marines in that book, I laughed I cried (not really) but I was saddened several times and I ducked for cover. It totally made up for the 1 star Deathwing which I only give 1 star because it had 2 ok DA stories in it. I also finished Angels of Darkness just before Brothers and that was a good 4 star. Truly made me want to be the Fallen even more. But if you want a good read and you haven't read it already, Brothers of the Snake is great.
Next let me say I hate EBAY, I have lost my last 3 auctions in as ebay customer support put it NANO seconds. Which is attributed to the fun ebay snipe programs. Which I asked Ebay about and they would only say, "we're sorry we do know about these programs hacking our system, but, we aren't going to do anything about it." I was Especially pissed last night when I lost what would have been my new nids army in a Nano second. It wouldn't have been so bad if it had been a measly dollar over me. No it was a nice 18.64 over me which shouldn't even be possilbe. And there were no bids above me just this great new 18.64 over mine that appeared as the 1 second marker went away. Stupid Ebay. Ok off that soapbox.
Finally if you have made it this far, I need some help from the Nid players, I am looking at making another army and it will be a Nid army. I want to do Only rendering claws and scything talons. No guns other than maybe a few bios and some zoanthropes. But those would be later. I just want a nice swarm around 2000 points. I'm thinking Genestealers, Flyrant, walking tyrant 2 fexes, 1 or 2 lichtors, some tyrant guard for the walker, and maybe some ravenors and the rippers. That's it no guns just pure melee death, if they make it. I like the nids and i like the horde army type, I really want these guys to just be basically (aliens) like the movies no guns just claws and teeth. Anyway what I need help with since I don't have a dex (thanks local hobby store) is from you nid players will this idea even work? I know its a super challenge but thats why I like it. I know I'm only using stealers but I dont know if there is a c/c gaunt style better than the stealers. But I just wanted some ideas on a good setup and if what I have listed is reasonable around the 2k point area. I may lower to 1500 or just add the zoans and bio's to push 2k. Anyway any nid help is greatly appreciated. Oh and should you have a nid army laying around you want to sell, hollar I may be interested. STUPID EBAY!!!

BAT. REP. DA vs NECs and 1K

Well to lead off I hit 1000 hits yay.
Anyway on to the game, this is just a quick comprehensive and there are no pics as my new base was involved and It's a secret. Here goes.
Setup-take and hold and four corner's with center objective setup. 1250 points.
I took my usual DA list but dropped a few extras to get the beefed up crusader put in.
Lach took the list that fought my scouts, which gives a good setup point.

++Having received the news that several vehicles and many of the newer members of 10th company fell on a mysterious tomb world, Belial pondered over the reports of action. Seeing it as a secondary target to other more ominous threats in the sector he began to discard the file. Then he saw it, the death report of captain (insert name I haven't named them all yet) and his entire squad. Furios with the loss of one of his captain he set out to the armory. No retribution would be given to the foul xenos, the thought hit him and he lay down his sword and removed the twin lightning claws from there case. After assembling 17 of his finest and Belials personal chaplain the team set off to the last known coordinates of the lost captain. Arriving several weeks later on the planet Belial set down on the last known location and found the Necron lot attempting to excavate and ancient relic (old f-15 cockpit and downed pilot awesome objective btw). The field was set Belail drove ahead into cover in his crusader. The necrons saw him and attempted to thwart his actions. The necron monolith began its move towards the crusader. All would be to no avail. The crusader suffered only a minor systems malfunction and lost its targeting systems. Then Belial disembarked and his honor gaurd let loose the power of the emperor on the necron lord and his squad. Few would fall but there cleansing was not in shots it would be in hand to hand death. One of Belials 12 squads also entered the battle and began its journey towards the objective with no enemies wihtin range. Belials team hit the nexrons hard and swift. The loss of a member spurred great fury and the necron team was destroyed. The lord survived the assault barely. The monolith retargeted forgetting the crusader and attempted to destroy Belial, the show would go amiss and the Belial set his sites upon a group of warriors hiding on a hill. The Necron lord would bring several of his fallen squad back and they join up with the nearest squad of warriors. The Lord uses his ancient witchery and teleports himself and some warriors away from belial. They land behind the other squad of terminators, and after a bad teleport several members of the necrons team perish to the warp. 1 terminator falls to shooting as a squad of wraiths appear and assault them. The fighting was fierce and 1 wraith is crushed. meanwhile Belilal drives his team forward and assaults the waiting necrons on the hill. The crusader retargets the monolith and a super shot with the melta destroys the xeno temple. Belial tears into the xeno scum and lets one warrior live long enough to run. It is soon shot down by a bolter as it attempts to flee the battle. The necrons attempt to rally but to no avail. Belials fury shall not be stopped. several more close combat battles will be fought as well as another squad of terminators joining the fight. The two squads meet the wraiths and warriors head on and with the loss of 1 manage to destroy the warriors the pesky wraiths hang on long enough to let there lord escape. The crusader commander attempts to drive him down but misses. Belial watches from the hill as his squads mop up and the last remaining necrons begin to leave the field. He cares not for the relic and decides to destroy the world from orbit. He leaves the field with a sense of justice served.++
Ok that was my attempt at making it a story and not a point by point article. 1st try I'll get better I promise. The game was great fun. I was just happy to take the mono down. It ended in a draw cause stupidly i smelled blood and sent my 2nd squad of terminators into c/c instead of holding the objective (dumb). It ended in turn 5 on a dice roll of 1. we played out 6 for fun and I would manage to take the wraiths down and the lord got runover in death or glory by the crusader. Big thing I learned was remember that LRC's are assault. I let Belial and his boys take a round of shooting because i deployed to move and shoot. I forgot he can assault out of the crusader on the turn it hits the enemy. Since Lach and I do not concede to what ifs I won't list a who won by points etc. It was a draw and was a fun game and as Lach. put it he finally didn't phase out. I think he had fun too even though I know he hates the termies. He is learning at a huge rate how to take down my boys and I'm having to learn new ways to take on his necs each time we play.

So I finally got over the scared feeling and got out the drill. After a few pilot holes and a few anxious moments I got the holes drilled. Then after several hesitant moments of making sure my polarities (I think that's right) matched I had his body and arms set for the finale.

The magnets are in place.

Today I'm thinking Lightning claws. (love when the dog hair gets in the shot DOH.)

Tomorrow I'm Thinking Swords and bolters.

No idea what I was thinking.

I really love the magnets. I think I sat here just watching his arms slide across the bed for about 5 minutes. With Bel. done I needed a base, with the 15th looming I needed a base. So I finished the base. Buuuuuut I didn't post him on it because that's for another day. Oh yeah also the poses aren't the ones he is actually in on the base but he wont stand with his arms on unless they were put exactly that way.

All that's left now is the standard bearer and the banner for him and the apoth.

Well as Lachlan wrote up the report on his blog "http://soullessawakened.blogspot.com/" the 1250 scout list did pretty well and they walked away with the W. That list though got me in one of those lets build some crazy fun lists moods. So I put together another quick fluff hit and then made a new 1750. It goes a lil' something like this.

Sgt. Chronus along with a new tank commander captain and 15 of his troops, went to planet (insert name) to check on the status of several tanks and dreads. that have been damaged and are now being put back on the line. Chronus figures while he is there he will let the new captain and his men get some tanking experience and training done. While there however a small force of (insert army) descend on the planet and attempt to take over the repair depot. Chronus throws aside the training and the 15 marines the captain and Chronus set out to repel the advancing army. He takes some of the newly repaired equipment and they set out to the battle.

The army is a pure based tank company as best is it can be. Pros lots of armor for a force not ready for that there in trouble. Chronus gives some serious plusses to make a nasty tank. Smoke launchers give you a great chance of surviving and they're free now woohoo. TANKSHOCKS muahahahaha.
Cons-Any army based with anti armor is gonna hurt you. Lack of troops for holding objectives. Your gonna be somewhat slow unless you move all out and then you are losing firepower.

Anyway it looks like it could be a fun list to play I may try it out in a while depending on what Lachs got at the 1750 level. That's it for this one with just a quick side note..Everyone is doing the resolutions list. So here are my short terms as they seem the most reasonable to accomplish. 1.Get the rules down....
2. Get my 2000 point DW finished
3. Get Belial done for the 15th. The magnets came yesterday so it shouldn't be to long.

These all have to be done by March since that's when the RT is. That's my goal is to play in that. The long term goals are just keep painting building and blogging.

So Lachlan and I have been talking a lot about having our own table to play on. Well he took the idea and ran. He called me today and said come build the table. So I went over to his house and we spent 2.5 hours building our own gaming table. This should alleviate the stinky people problem. Anyhoo, he got the materials and we put it together. Here's the results... POWER TOOLS YAY!!!!!

She's a tall drink of water. 4x4 surface and she stands at about 4 to 4.5 feet tall

Next up, gotta make it mobile. It's a 4 wheel drive. Ok here's where we lose a few pictures well because it was time to put the shelf brackets on and then take it inside. PROBLEM....The table is 48 inches wide and 4 feet tall. well the hall we have to take it down is 36 inches wide and 5 feet long. problem time...so we had to take off all the legs. This resulted in 2 stripped screws 1 bloody fingers and a disassembled table. But we got it done and moved into the room.

It's a great table. Perfect gaming height. There's no bending over at all you're right at game height so you just move and play. It's perfect for pictures. Everything about it is great. 40k christmas

Well it was a pretty good 40k Christmas for me. The wife who went all out for me despite the fact she hates 40k. So the plates very full now. I'm still backlogged from last Christmas and the other models I bought in 08. So it looks like these get put on the bench for a few. Although the new pods will probably get bumped up so I can replace the homegrown ones. Hope everyone else had a great holiday and here's to a Happy New Year.

OK if you re one of these guys I apologize but I finally hit my limit. Also this isn't so much a 40k post as a general hobby post/rant. So let me paint a picture....
I went to the local store today to get a few new paints. No problem should be a quick in and out, you would think. Well I get there and the paints I need are on one side of the room with a table in front of them. Still no problem. (insert problem). Sitting directly in front of the paints at the table is dude on laptop playing game. So I was being the nice guy and just sort of stood to his left and eyed the paints. Hoping he would see me and scoot over a little bit. He looks at me and continues playing. OK no worries. Well then I spot my much needed pot of chaos black which happens to be on the far side of the paint rack. So I say hey bud can I get behind you and grab some paint for a second. He proceeds to look at me like I've gone mental and this has ruined his day some how. But he sighs quite loudly and moves his computer and himself to another chair. I say thanks get my paints and leave.
This all being said I started thinking about things that ticked me off with the game/store I play at. I was just wondering if it was me being crazy in my old age, or if I'm on the boat with anyone else out there. but here's my list of current peeves. Oh and I would play somewhere else but we only have 1 store in town and I'm lucky we even have that. If you are one of the following I apologize this is in no way directed towards you just a general rant from me.

1. Stinky guy, being as its 12 degrees outside and the heats on really no fun is to be had in a 10x12 room with the guy who has now made the room smell like old garbage. This is the guy who for some reason even though you've never met him will stand right next to you and call a T-Rex (burp) like your drinking buddies.
2. Overly loud obnoxious rules guy, the guy who you don't even have to be playing but he can come over to your table and tell you both what you're doing wrong. This guy usually becomes the next guy...
3. I'm a poor loser guy, Everyone knows this guy...He's the one who throws his dice across the room because they got yet another 1. I don't mean a "damn a 1!" I mean duck and cover here comes a D6 your way. (personal exp. a D6 can break through a coke machine front. seen it happen) I mean really man it's just a game...RELAX.
4. Cheater guy. This is the guy who in the clutch moment goes from the dice he's been using, to the the secret in the box dice that for some reason only ever seem to roll a 5 or 6. Or the guy that rolls so fast you can't see what he's doing but somehow in a matter of 30 seconds your squad just took 45 hits with 42 wounds. (WHAT WHAT!!)
Lastly well just where I'm going to stop, but by far the worst for me personally.
5. Oblivious guy, This is the guy who doesn't really care that your playing a game or you're even standing there. God forbid your model case is on the floor in his way it's easily movable with his foot. Or oh I need to get by you no need to say "pardon me" i''d even settle for "MOVE!" no the nice ill just squeeze by and bump the heck out of your table guy. This guy sort of runs with the touchy guy. I'm adding this cause they sort of go together. If were friends no problem here I know you. But this is the guy who comes up and is just watching, that's cool. He's eyeing the pieces checking em out, enjoying there painted goodness. ALL COOL. What's not cool when for some strange reason and you have not even asked me you decide to just grab one of my models and begin to inspect it. WHOA! what the heck man. And for the love of GOD why did you just drop him.
OK I'm getting off my soapbox, just in a mood at the moment. As stated earlier if you are any of the following this is not directed at you just a general rant from me. Sorry if I have offended, like I said maybe it's just me. I know I'm not perfect but in a social gaming environment I try to be as courteous as possible, it just makes for a better and more fun gaming environment (note to Lachlan me drunk at Wills does not count besides we're all friends.)

If I run with the dread I will place him behind the Land Raider. The assault marines will be in the LR. They will run a flank. The rest of the terms will deepstrike in. The dread is a moving weapons platform. The LR will move up slowly in rd 1. Then when the deepstirkes hit in rd 2 it will go 12 deploy the terms who should be able to get into an assault by then (hope, the termy catapult works.) The Cyclone team will try and drop in on an objective and secure it.

If I run the 2 Land Raiders then the Raider will have the assault marines still and do the same thing except both moving 12 the first round. The LRC will move up with Bel's team inside, with the LR. Should still be able to get them into assault by rd2 (hopefully) The 3 squads will come in via deep strike. The squad that had the cyclone will now just be a basic squad and will still try to drop onto an ovbjective to secure while the rest hit inside the enemy.

Apothecary finished

I didn't step by step the apothecary, but I have been working on him for the last two days. Short of a maybe banner, he's done. Debating the banners still, I have one for the apothecary, Belial and of course the standard. So without any more words here's my terminator apothecary. I'm pretty happy with him overall though. Oh I also started adding my base extras.

So here is my scout list. I have been thinking more and more about it and I think it will be really fun to play. I may lose horribly fast, but I think it’s gonna be fun. That’s what’s important.

On warpstones list I had Telion as a HQ. But I know he is not one and I don't wanna ask so I brought a cheap Captain. Usually there's a captain running around in a rhino or Razor giving orders to everyone. I had a Whirlwind originally but then though no rapid insertion army is gonna bring a cumbersome artillery tank. Thus the dread came in as a quick walker type.

Like I said the list is more of a fun list based of book lore. Pros-Speed/Stealth/Infiltrate/Good cover saves. Cons-Weak overall armor wise-scouts-. Lack of c/c capabilities. The list has some anti-tank. Some anti infantry. Great pinning capabilities. I'm gonna try it out soon and I'll write it up. SCOUTS ARE GOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WIP-Belial part2

So I sat down with my 3 newest volumes of Death Note and Belial and got to work. I finished his Sword of Silence and bolter arms. I also did his head. Belial is basically done, I have 1 purity seal to paint up and i have to get his arms done with the magnets. I bought thinner magnets that work great size wise but they're not strong enough to hold the arms. Looks like I'm drilling which scares the hell out of me. I'm pleasantly pleased with him as of now. Just ready to get the arms on. Anyway here's the pics.

WIP- Belial, Apothecary and Standard Bearer-updated-

With the night off i decided to try out some new painting techniques and start Belial and his friends. They are gonna be all black like my sgts. in the ancient armor. I had them all in pieces and primed em up.

Once i got a good prime coat I hit em with some chaos black for the main color.
Forgot to just snap a shot before i started highlighting.

Then as much as it killed me I left the drybrush sittin in the jar and got out my liner. Highlighted in 2 colors codex grey to a fortress gray. Kinda messy with the lines but easily touched up

Highlights

Next I set the apothecary and standard aside and focused on Belial. i put the first colors on for the extra parts, and watered down some black ALOT. Ran the watered mix over the light areas to get some lined areas darkened.
BAD pic I know. wish you could see the differences between here and below.

Then I went back in and did some highlights on those areas and touched up the black. Finished up with some small color spots and I think Belials body is done. I did brush one area SORRY... The Aquila's on this crew I wanted silver so I just put a light light coat of brushing on them. Then rehit em with the liner.
Finished hopefully.
Some of the pics aren't so hot I'm having digi cam issues and had to switch to the smaller older camera. I'm pretty pleased so far with the outcome of Belial. Not drybrushing and using the lines has definitely taken away some of the excess paint mistakes. I'm still learning with it, (maybe Belial wasn't the wisest to start with) but i think its coming out pretty good.

So I couldn't sleep, the wife is sick and I was up with her so during that time I decided to do up Belials first set of arms. Here's the Claws.

So, you may or may not be asking why are they not on Belial? Well I was gonna have two sets of magnetized arms. That's when the problem hit. The magnets I bought and cut down are to big and they make the arms stand out to far. So if I use them he appears to have giant gorilla arms protruding far out of his body. So now I'm stuck, I'm gonna try and find some smaller flatter magnets but if that doesn't work I'm gonna have to get another termy I think and make 2 Belials.

Clouds of Death!!! BATREP

So last week Soulless (Lach) and I played 2 games. We decided to spice things up a little bit and played both games with the evil metallic devouring clouds from the hazardous environments pdf. We played at 1000 points me running my small Belial Deathwing config. and soulless running his usual monolith, warriors, immortals, scarabs. Both games were Pitched battle and Seize ground. The "ground was a building in the middle of the table with and obj. marker in it. The dangerous clouds were to the left and right of the buildings and they would drift at the beginning of each new round. I forgot my camera and Lachs died so we don't have any pics. of this fight.

-Game 1. I setup in full reserve for deep strike. Soulless setup across his side of the board with the monolith on the far right flank.
-1st round the necs move forward towards the objective. I can't enter play yet.
-Round 2 Both clouds move to the left of the necrons and he avoids the storm. He moves the necs closer to the objective. I get horribly unlucky nad nothing comes into play.
-Round 3 The storm gets brutal 1 cloud hits a few of his warriors and 1 warrior its KO'ed. The other cloud drifts right on top of his immortals. Luckily enough for him they all survive. He moves his lead warrior squad onto the objective. I get a horrible roll for deepstrike and only manage to bring in 1 of my 3 squads. I bring in Belial, his squad shoots into the rear warrior squad and takes a few down.
-Round 4 The storm persists, the cloud on the warriors drifts away form the fight. The immortals don't fair so well the cloud sticks with em and 2 immortals go down. He moves the rear warrior squad towards Belial. the immortals move towards Belial. He puts the scarabs in a front line position trying to keep me form assaulting his warriors. Then he lays into me with fire. The monolith discharges a pie plate that lands dead on top of the squad. 1 marine dies. Both warrior squads fire on Belial 38 shots. I lose 1marine. the immortals lay in with 15 shots but the apothecary saves me and no one is injured. He decides not to assault. My turn. I get another squad on the board. My rolls were horrible this game. I bring in a cyclone squad to the left of the main objective building. The cyclone shoots into the warriors on the objective and the stormbolters send a volley in. Cover saves a plenty none of the warriors go down. Belial find a strategic hole left by the scarabs and takes the squad in a straight line through it. The squad shoots into the warriors and 2 fall. Belial then unleashes his fury and him and his chaplain engage in furious assault. The termies go berserk and destroy the entire nec squad. They victoriously jump onto the scarabs.
-Round 5 The storm drifts away and is no longer a threat to anyone. The rear squad of warriors roll WBB and 5 get up they consolidate into the warriors on the objective. Not 10 but now 15 warriors on the objective. He moves the monolith away from Belial towards my cyclone team.
His lord moves to the rear of the warriors but cannot reach them. He shoots the monolith pie plate at the cyclone team it scatters and misses. Then he unloads with the remaining warrior's and immortals on my cyclone team. 1 term. dies. Assault time the scarabs don't put up much of a fight and Belials boys swat them away. Strangely enough 1 manages to live though and im stuck in battle with them. (Lach told me later that powerfist do 2 to 1 wounds on scarabs so i would have actually just destroyed them all, no big deal i don't think it would have changed the outcome.) My turn the last squad enters beside the cyclone team and they shoot the warriors, 3 go down. The cyclone team shoots into them and wounds 2. Belial assaults the last scarab destroys it and victory jumps onto the lord. The cyclone team assault the warriors on the objective. There in cover and go first and manage to wound 1 term but I save. I fight back and 4 more go down. They pass there leadership and were stuck in battle.
-We rolled off for a turn 6 right here but it didn't happen. The necrons took the victory.
-We played it out just to see what would happen though. In 6 all but 1 of the downed warriors got back up. He moved the remaining immortals away form the assault Belial was in with his lord. The monolith would miss its shot at my newest term squad. The immortals can't get a shot off. In the assault the Lord gets crushed. Belial moves towards the warriors. The cyclone team takes down 5 warriors. On my turn the new terms assault into the warriors, Belial assaults the warriors. All but 2 warriors go down. They fail leadership but don't move far enough away. I can't sweep em and i can't victory consolidate. So the Objective is left with no one at it it ends in a draw.
-In the imaginary round 7 I would take the objective and phase out his necrons for the W.

Game 2
Same setup EXCEPT we traded armies. He played my deathwing and I played his necs. The clouds reset to either side of the objective building. This will also be now known as the stupid (explicit) cloud game. I got first turn and decided to setup with 1 warrior squad and the Immortals on the table. I put the monolith in reserve. He went with a Deepstrike reserve option. I infiltrated my scarabs right on top of the objective.
-RD1, Cloud 1 moves away form the action. Cloud 2 hits my warriors and wounds 2 but they save. I moved the warriors and immortals towards the objective. DW can't enter play.
-RD2, Cloud 1 moves just behind my warriors and cloud 2 moves further away (you'd think this would be good.) I move he warriors to the objective building and the immortals flank up right beside them. I get he monolith on the table and it deepstrikes on the far side away from my warriors. I'm expecting him to come into play around there. I'm in the zone so I think. His turn he gets great rolls and Belial and 1 regular term squad enters play. HE gets unlucky and Belial deepstrikes right into the middle of cloud 1. They all survive it though. The other term squad enters behind the immortals. Belials squad shoots into the warriors as do the other terms. 6 warriors fall.
-RD3, Cloud 1 Drifts away form the fight. Cloud 2 (sigh) drifts right on to one of the monoliths sides. (we made a mistake in reading the rules for hazardous environments and set it so instead of 4 5 6 not counting that was all that counted on the vehicle damage table. It was originally built for 4th ed. to be rolled on the glancing table. Well in 5th there is only the 1 table and we were rolling only 4 5 or 6 counted.) So guess what I roll a stupendous 6 rolls out and the monolith EXPLODES. Leaving my Lord and my other warriors lost in the warp. (STUPID CLOUD.) My turn I roll WBB 4 warriors get up. I move the warriors and immortals away from Belial and shoot at the regular temy squad. I take 3 down. The move and assault Belial. I just want to slow him down. they all die save 1. His turn the cyclone team enters in front of my immortals and warriors. I'm now flanked on all sides. It's pretty much over here. He moves the regular term squad towards my warriors. The cyclone team shoots the immortals and wounds 2. Then he assaults. Belial destroys the last scarab and consolidates into my remaining warriors. The term squad hits the warriors and kills 3.
-RD4, It's over anyway but I move the immortals towards the cyclone team and shoot them. They all save. I assault the terms and they do nothing and I manage to lose 5. Belial and the other terms DESTROY my warriors and I phase. (&^%$&^%# CLOUD!!!!)
-He gets the Win again, I took it as a moral victory since it was my boys who did the winning. What did I learn. Well first make sure you read all the rules thoroughly before you play a game. Then you to can avoid a cloud error. Playing as the Necs was fun just seeing what my terms do to another army is awesome. I think I had a great battle plan and may have been able to beat them but the cloud got me. I saw some things I can use next time I play my DW though. I think Lach may have seen some tings too. It was a good time by all though I think. In game 1 and several other times I've lost I've learned that its very hard for me to get a win when i need to destroy the necs outright. Them being able to get up and the odds that you may not go past 5 get me a lot. I need to figure out something to do to get the upper hand and destroy em so they stay away. I'm gradually getting some ideas as I play them more, but I'm throwing out the help towel anyone got any ideas for fighting the metal monsters? Oh and if you ever get a chance flip the board and play with your buddies army. It really is a whole new world tyring to fight off the army that you built.

This week was very busy work wise so the blog has sort of lacked I know. But with the NCAA local season wrapped up I have some more time to devote to my K. So expect to see some new stuff coming up. Belial, (with magnetized changeable arms) with Apoth. and standard. Jan base competition piece AKA Belials base. 2 missing BATREPS (lets just call it THOSE CLOUDS SUCKED.) Playing a game or two this week and taking lots of pics....(TOP SECRET STILL. but you know what for if you know why its a secret.) and lastly adding some "flare" to my already done bases, (Do you have your 15 pieces?) Also I'm posting anew vote on an idea I would love to try and put together in the future, stop by and vote let me know if it would be worth the effort to seriously look at.

The Holidays.

It was a busy weekend for me. I didn't accomplish much K wise. I bought a bunch of new paint. Bought the stuff I need for my base (the idea is sparked and burning.) I sprued and flashed my Belial, Apothecary Term. and Co. Standard Term. I had planned on priming them and then highlighting. However I was informed by the better half that instead of that I would be building. With a twinkle in my eye the ideas ran wild.....what can I build. It was then that I was informed we were building ......

THE TREE. While this wasn't my goal for the evening it made her very happy and ultimately it made me happy. Which brings me to the last part of this post. Since it's the holidays and all, Happy whatever you celebrate. But I was wondering what's on those lists out there. What's the gift of gifts you're hoping for. Or if not for you whats the gift you're gonna have to hunt down all season for the little 40kers running around.
My list this year is pretty simple like it always is some movies, some books, some socks (yes socks), but the wish list portion was some good ole 40k stuff. Hoping to get 6 drop pods, The new Land Raider (name eludes me) some scout bikes and a Thunderfire cannon. Want the Iron Clad but it isn't out and i have a converted dread that hasn't seen the board yet that may become a homemade Iron Clad. Anyway enough of me. Whats on the wish lists for you all.

touch ups and redo's

So i spent a looooong time looking at the new Termy Sgt. pics. I wasn't really happy with him. So I pulled him back out and did some touch ups. Added some shading in a few spots corrected some missed spots. I also re-took the photos without flash. That helped a lot. Ultimately I'm not 100% with him but I will play him now and i don't feel so upset with him. Still got some things to improve on, and with a few pointers I got from Ron (He's probably sick of hearing from me already.) I think the next batch may be a step up. Anyway here's the two new shots, if you need to compare just scroll down the old shots are in the previous post.

Still not totally thrilled with the Aquila but i think it looks better than before.

New Photos and Stuff

So I didn't play on Tuesday. But I did manage to get some work done. I pulled and flashed all the Sternguard but that's it with them. I was gonna do a tank...was. However i went into my room of models and the Termy sergeant was screaming at me so I did him up instead. I also made, primes and painted the 20 bases for the stern and vanguard vets. I also put the final touches on the Titan. I also made a little photo box and started trying to improve my photo techniques. Word to the wise. If you get out the digi. cam. manual make sure you understand what they're talking about at least a little bit. I had to google a bunch of terms. But anyway without further ado. I give you the new pictures.

Here's the Titan with one of my Commanders and without. Notice it's home grown not home made. The difference, Home grown - I can't afford 1000 dollars so i found a same size model that i thought was cool, affordable and made it into my own. Home made - I still cant afford 1000 dollars but I also don't have the talent or resources to scratch build a replica. P.S. My home grown thunderhawk is in the works too.

Here's two side shots. I kept some original weapon to make the Turbo Laser. I made a new one though for the Mega cannon. Used some Warhammer bits and a few tank bits.

Next up is the New Termy Sgt. Few of him and one of him and his boys.

Lastly the 20 bases. The camera really highlights the gray. It may look like i just colored out of the lines. But I actually did that on purpose. I wanted some of the rock/debris color to get into the pieces so it looks like dust etc. From normal person point of view it works out well i think. It gets captured and highlighted a lot in the pictures as a mistake. I also put in some shots of some older pieces. Trying to get a feel for the new camera workings.
I know it's a paper plate....what can i say.

I'm Looking for anything here good, bad, ugly. I'm trying to make a good looking army and I'm also trying to make the photos look good. I don't want to try and enter a contest if my work is gonna look shotty. So I'm looking for all critiques be them what they may. If you like em great let me know. If you see some bad stuff i should try and fix please tell me. If they look like crap and i should just stop now LET ME KNOW. All i have is the wife to judge for me and I think she just wants me to go away and stop bugging her about them.
Oh a little about my painting I don't wash or ink It shines up to much for me. My army is supposed to be lost and old. So I was going for a more worn and weathered army. I pretty much only dry brush and highlight. I know i should probably start washing em and all but, A. I don't have any of it, and B. I tried to use it once, it went everywhere and I lost the model. Plus I'm so far into the army now it'd probably kill me to go back and start redoing them. Anyway Like I said I take all critiques and won't hold nothing against anyone. Let me know what's up. Also is the new photo setup working the white backdrop? I think it looks better than the ones I posted earlier of the guys wherever they were in the house.

So in my now building/painting/working/Warcraft time i been catching up on some reading. I have a decent 40k library and I have every Predator, Alien, or Predator vs' Alien book ever made. Anyway what i was about to say. What books fill your reading library. I just finished the Blood Ravens omni. I got a few new ones in the mail. Deathwing, Brothers of the Snake, Angels of Darkness, The Blood Angels Omni. (Thanks Jawaballs for getting me so interested in the BA all of a sudden.) The Killing Ground (the 4th installment of the Nightbringer Ultramarines line.) Also got the two new predator novels and just about finished one of em.
Anyway just wondering what everyone reads or does when there not 40k'ing'.

Side note. I'm working on the Sternguard and a tank right now. Thanks voters. I'm also working on a photo box to better show my minis. Got some games tomorrow and I'll be posting the titan in about a day. Got a full plate on top of I'm trying to level 3 characters in Warcraft, gotta love expansions.

So i thought this up Long Long Ago and now i get to show it. I have never test played it but i want to one day. I thought this one up to base a squads true fighting potential. It's setup to be a days of old fight where men lined up and killed each other to win glory for there general. It's setup to show the balance in armies where i team may have 10 guys and the other has 20 but the 10 may have better saves etc. It may or may not work I have never gotten to play test it. i designed it to be a time killer when your waiting around for your turn at a table to get a game in or if you just wanted to use that squad that never gets used and see how they do.

+ Mission Title- A Gentleman's War

+ Mission Description- After months of fighting the generals of the battling armies meet to discuss terms. No terms can be reached so it is put on each general to build an courageous squad of troops to fight for the battles final victory.

+ Mission Deployment- SO EASY - The game can be played on any surface. Each player sets up his squad 12 inches from the other player Facing him.

+ Who has to go first-Roll Off - Highest roll goes 1st

+ When the game specifically ends- When 1 squad is dead or 40 minutes.

+ Special Rules relevant to your scenario- The scenario is based around 1 squad. The Squad must consist of 1 and only 1 troops choice from your respective codex. (example- SM Troops - Tactical squad or Scout squad.) The squad may contain 1 leader (sgt, champion etc.) The Squad may be no more than 200 points. The squad and leader may take a combined total of 50 points in war gear. The leader may also challenge the other squads leader to a solo close combat battle. Your squad may upgrade to any options available in their troop options per codex, but they must be shooting options only. Squads do not enter close combat or move the entire scenario. The Only CC is fought between the leaders if a challenge is issued. RESTRICTIONS: No 2+ or better saves. No Invulnerable saves or items that grant Inv. saves. No Named characters. No special options (ex. Belials deathwing being used as a troop. No Belial available no DW available.) No more than 1 wound per model. All models must be shooting oriented, this is to your advantage as a CC model will not do anything the entire game. Squads cannot be upgraded to take additional war gear they may only take what is offered in their specific army listing under their specific unit. (ex. 1 tactical squad numbering 10 men may take a flamer or melta gun or plasma gun for ?? points, 1 marine may take a heavy bolter or las, plasma can., missile for ?? points.) NO TERRAIN OR COVER IS USED.

+ Leader face off rules - Each player has the option to challenge the other players leader/Sgt/etc. to a Close Combat battle. The two models will be taken aside and fight to the death. For the purposes of possible intsadeath weapons both leaders receive a 5+ invulnerable save usable only during the Close Combat battle. The victor returns to his army the next start of a full round and gives them great vigor. For the round the winning leader returns his squad may re-roll any failed armor saves. The Losers squad mourns the loss of there leader and for the rest of the game they must pass a leadership test. If the test is failed then 1 member of the squad leaves the battle. The test is taken each round until the game ends, all members flee the battle or time runs out.

+Setup and Playing- Each player sets up his squad 12 inches form the opposing player. The squads are setup in 2 lines a front rank and a rear rank. The leader of the squad is placed behind the rear rank. The two players the roll off to see who goes first and the battle begins. Each team will trade off shots. with the other squad until one team is destroyed. If a Leader calls out the opposing teams leader the two will move to the side and battle in close combat to the death.

Setup is based on civil war style combat.

FINISHED SOME TERMIES

Finished up 4 of the old terminators. The 2nd photo is a before and after the left one is my terms from 3 years ago when i first got them. The right is a new one. I let the wife inspect em and she said they both look good. So i'm a little worried now cause i think the new ones look good and the old ones are crap. But I think she is just triyng to make me happy to. Anyway that's what i've finished now. Got some other oldies to redo I may just scrap em and buy new ones. Which leaves 10 new termies to do. I dunno I think I may put the Bikes on the painting table or maybe the Speeder. Dunno yet. I need to build and paint up my vanguard and sternguard. Who knows i'll figure it out as I go. Still got a bunch to paint. Oh and gonna post up a pic of the homegrown titan here in a few days too.
Im also debating what to paint my Term sgts. I'm thinking all black to go for the lost uniforms of the ancient angels. Dunno though. Ideas?

Tuesday games

Played a couple of games tuesday, necs vs' archangels. Chaos had a family event and no showed. Soon the corrupted should be joining the battle. Also got a guy at the store throwing out his templars trying to scare me. I told him to bring it. Belial and his boys are aching for another round.

Anyway Game 1

1000 points Necs vs' Archangels

Pitched battle; Capture and Control.

Angels list.

Chaplain with Command squad (apothecary and champion 1 Sgt pwr weapon and 2 marines.)

5 man tac sgt with plas pistol.

5 man tac sgt with plasma pitsol.

dreadnought (assault cannon, ccw.)

10 man dev. squad split into combat teams 2 plasma cannons, 2 lascannons.

Nec list.

10 warriors and 3 scarab swarms in reserves.

I won deployment and first go. I placed my two tacs within walking range of the center and left field objectives. put a lascannon team as far from the monolith as possible in cover. Put the plasma cannon team behind the leftfield tac team in cover. The Comm. squad and Dread hid on the right flank to move up into his lord and warrior.

Rd1, My tacs move to objectives and secure 2. Comm squad and Dread move up field towards lord and warriors. Shooting was unveventful las team managed to destroy 1 turret on the monolith and shook it. (desn't matter cause the pie plate crystal on the mono fires no matter what. AHHHH) Necs turn the immortlas moved up and towards my tac tema in the middle. The monolith moves towards my leftfield teams. His warriors claim the far side objective. Shooting was better for him the immortals killed off a marine in midfield and the monolith dropped a pie on the Plasma cannons and tac team in cover. 1 marine form each squad died.

Rd2, Comm and dread move up right flank everyone else stays put. Comm squad Kills the lord. he fails WBB and leaves the game on the nec turn. Las team shakes and stuns mono. 2 nec warriors get wounded. They both die on WBB rolls. Nec turn with the lord out the warriors on the objective move away and shoot into the comm squad. 6 wounds i save all but 1 which the apothecary wipes clean. (I LOVE APOTHECARYS). The beast (monolith) pie plates the tac and Plas. team again more death 1 tac and 2 Plas team die.

Rd3, Comm squad is out for blood they move towards the retreating warriors. I wanted to tank shock the immortals but didnt know how and messed up doing it so the rhino just moved at the immortals (cover). dread moves towards warriors and shoots. Dread rends 2 wounds two. The comm squad doesnt even shoot they want the assault. My shooting with the rest was pothetic until the las team. They both hit the monolith. 1 shot shakes the mono (stupid minuses for non ap1 sucks on a arm14 beast.) BUT the other shot rolls a 6 which minuses to a 5 and BOOM the mono goes down (destroyed.) That made the game for me even if i lost i finally downed the monolith. The Comm squad assaults the warriors and kills all but 3. The arriors fail leadership and run off the board. Nec turn his scarabs and other warriors deepstrike in. The warriors behind my comm squad and the scarabs in the middle building near my middle objective. the immortals and the warriros shoot at the comm squad but nothing well 1 wound that the apothecary saves. (Have i said I LOVE APOTHECARYS.)

Rd4, HIs warriors are to far to get the comm. sqd. into assault so they move towards the immortals. But the dread isnt to far he moves towards the warriors. The Rhino, decides to tank shock the scarabs. Gets the roll for difficult terrain and charges. Note scarabs are immune to tank shocks. So beasically he drives through them they move and he ends up stuck inside a building. Good side though he ended up blocking the scarabs from being able to contest the objective in the mddle. Shooting wise the las team, plas team and tacs shoot at the immmortals and wound 2. they'll get back up later. the dread rends 2 warrios, wounds 2 and then assaults Killing 2 with his power fist. The comm squad shoots the immortals and wounds 1 who fails wbb and dies. Nec turn the immortals get back up and move away from the comm. sqd. He shoots up the comm. sqd. and I lose a marine. Apothecary saved 1. His scarabs assault the rhino but can't hurt it.

Rd. 5 Comm. sqd. Moves into range of the immortals. I don't shoot anything. The comm. sqd. assaults the immortals and Kills 2 straight up. The necrons Phase Out.

I took the win, and had 2 objectives. 1 was left unclaimed.

Learned- Monoliths OMG what a beast as always. The lucky las shot did it. Had that beast deepstriked into my teams i probably would have been toast. But the Las boys payed off. Comm. Sqd rocked apothecary saves are great. Learned -which is gonna get me soon I know, all gause weapons cause shaken to vehicles so my dreads are gonna be sitting ducks. Also make sure there's windows in the building before you try and shoot out of them.

I tried a differnent style army more stand and shoot than my usual assault but it still worked.

Game 2 was a proxy game Necs wanted to try some flayed ones for assault. We played annhilation; spearhead. 750 points

Angels,

chap and 5 assault marines no pack-Drop Pod

10 man tac flamer sqt with power-DP

Necs,
2- 10 man warrior squads and 2- 5 man flayed ones in reserve. Lord

Rd1. I drop in two pods shoot into his warriors wounding 3 (We both had horrible rolls this whole game.) the Necs fail WBB on 2 and then shoot into my marines killing nothing.)

Rd2. The pods shoot and wound 1 warrior. the assault tema assaults a warrior squad and my tac team assaults the other. The chaplain and his squad take out all but 3 of the warriors.v My tac team wpunds 2 warriors. the Necs fail to hurt anyone. The nec turn he gets all his WBB rolls except 1 form the assualt with the chaplains team. 1 Sqaud of flayed ones enters behid the chaplains team. Assualt, The marines wound 1 the chaplain wounds 4. His necs kill a marine.

Rd3. Pods shoot a flayed one down. The assualt, chaps team wounds 3, the tac marines wound 1.

He fails to wound. Nec turn, All but 2 get up form WBB. His Lord uses veil of darkness and pulls out the warriors fighting the chaplain. but the veil scatters and he cant shoot at me cause he is behind a building. Flayed ones move into assault with chaplain. the chaplain kills 2. the marines and flayed roll together and 2 flayed are wounded and 2 marines die.

Rd4. My last pod lands the marines shoot into the lord and the remaining warriors with him. i wound 3. Assault my Chaplain destroys the rest of the flayed. The tac squad in assault with the arriors is doing nothing. Just trading off a marine for a nec each turn. Nec turn WBB i warrior dies form the lords squad. The 2nd flayed squad deepstrikes behind my tac team in assault. Assault is uneventful no losses.

Rd5. Tac team 2 moves twards lord and warriors. Chaplain moves towads flayed ones. the Assault was brutal my chaplain and assault squad kills off the flayed ones. the tac team assaults the lord and wounds 3 but the lords staff of light kills 3 marines outright. the neverending assault with the warriors and tac marines continues I lose 1 marine. I pass all my leadership tests. Nec. turn 1 flayed gets up nad is crushed by the chaplain. his lord kills off 2 more marines 1 wound a warrior. THe neverending assault is uneventful no one dies. I pass th eleadership and we go to turn 6.

Roll off for 6 fails game ends. Angels lose.

He has 3 points form my pods. I have 2 points from killing off his flayed ones.

Learned- Pods screw me everytime they give away points. WBB gets me too. In annhilation i just cant kill em fast enough with them just getting right back up. I gotta figure something out.

Some pics as promised, not great yet like i said im still learning. These are just some of my army. Got alot more that hasn't been done and some that hasn't seen the camera. Note my first 2 home made drop pods. Getting 6 new ones to replace the 5 home grown. One of my dreads an assault squad, my newest chaplain. My whole done army so far, lot of scouts troops assault teams. Hq table with sgts, hq's, a bike sgt, tech some other stuff, my captains and champion. notice the 2 warmachine guys on the right. Gaming Tuesday

I played 2 games today both verse my friends necrons. We were supposed to have some chaos to but our chaos friend hasnt put em together yet. Anyway....
Game 1: 1000 pts. DA vs' Nec
I was fielding a dethwing squad all deepstriking
Belial (termies count as troops)
Interigator Chaplian in term. arm.
1 squad 5 termies with standard, apothecary, thunderhamer/stormshield combo and heavy flamer.
1 squad 5 termies cylone missile launcer.
1 squad termies.

Necs:
Monolith
Lord w/immortals
2 x 10 man warriors
3 scarab swarms

I ended up winning in 5 rounds by taking all 3 points. We were playing capture and control. We setup and got ready to play.
I had all my termies in reserve for deathwing assault. He placed 2 nec 10 man squads on the board and his hq and immortals. He won placement for control points so both of his nec troops were in range of 2 points. I had 1 point close to my deployment zone. He won the rolls and got to go first. he moved into range of his 2 capture points. i took Belials squad with the chaplain and deepstriked. I got lucky and didnt scatter and landed in a spot 4 inches from his nec squad farthest from his lord. My cyclone term squad came in and luckily didnt scatter and landed in range of my control point. i unloaded with belials squad into the necs in front of them and wounded 3. The cyclone squad shot at his 2nd squad of nec troops but did nothing and the frag missile scattered away from them. Round 2 will be back brought all but 1 nec back and he tried to bring in his monolith and scarabs in but didnt get a good role for reserves. With no mono in he decided to shoot me up. Luckily Belials quad lasted they took about 40 shots and only lost one term. On my turn i got a great roll and got to deepstrike in my last unit. I put them in front of his other troops choice the 10 man squad nearest to his Lord. I scattered but rolled low and only ended up 2 inches away from him. I moved the cyclone squad on top of my objective and moved belials squad towards the farthest nec. squad. Shooting brought about 3 downed necs in the close squad and 2 down necs in the far squad. Now time for the assault Belials squad tore into the far squad and they wreaked havoc. A majority of the squad was gone from belial and the chaplain. He had 3 models left they attempted to attack the terms but didnt get any wounds. The 4 powerfists and thunderhammer punched in and took them out. The nec squad was destroyed and Belials squad claimed that objective. Round 3 will be back brings back 2 necs from the last remaing nec squad. However the monolith deepstrikes in beside my cyclone termies. It doesnt scatter and now I have a Arm14 behemoth sitting at the front door. The scarabs don't get the roll and stay off board. He lays into the termie squad in front of his last nec troops but doesnt manage to kill any. The lords immortals try and kill 1. The mono. gets a ton of shots from a d6 roll but doesnt manage to kill any of my cyclone team. It then lays out a pie plate and manages to wound one term after scatter. Lucky for the 5+ inv save. I survive. My turn, I move Belials team up a little but stay with the objective. I shoot Bels. squad at his lord and immortals. Manage to wound 2. my terms shoot at the nec troops and wound 2. Try and take the monolith with a krak missile from the cyclone but it hits and does nothing with a great 1 roll for pen. Assault time. Belial stays put, hes way out of range. My 4 terms attack his last troop choice and survive his attacks i manage to kill 5. HE passes leadership and were stuck in mortal combat. I charge the mono wiht the cyclone squad. Get some good rolls an manage to immobilise it 2 times and destroy a weapon. woulda been more but the new modifiers suck was rolling at -2 or -1 every time. Round 4, he doesnt move anything but gets the scarabs on the board, his lord squad shoots at belials squad but fails to kill anything YAY for apothecarys. his assault phase necs dont hurt me and i kill all but 2 of the remaining. The mono gets immobilised again. My turn no movement Belials squad shoots at the lord manages to do nothing but luckily the 2 previous wounds 1 failed a will be back. Into assault, termies kill off the last nec troops and i stun and shake the mono. Round 5 He moves his scarabs into assault with belials squad. Scarabs die. We roll for round 6 and get it but with his casualties he ends up phasing out. Win in 5 I was in range of all points and his army was gone.
What did i Learn, Deathwing is awesome but costly. Monoliths are beasts with the new vehicle damage rules. Even witha lascan. I can see them being huge problems. Apothecary + Standard + chaplain in a termy squad is insane. Plus 1 to all attacks, rerolls from litanies and apothecarys wiping a wound, AWESOME!. I'm starting to lean toward DA all the way.

I won first roll and got to deploy after setup (we were playing captur again) I got lucky though and ended up getting 2 points close to me. i put my 1st tac squad out and he says done. His whole army was in reserve to deepstrike and come out of the monolith. so i placed the other tac squad as close to the other objective. I infiltrated shrikes team on top of the 3rd ovjective.
Round 1 I move both tacs onto objectives. Drop pod enters and deploys the dread with shrikes team. YAY for running dreadnoughts. I have all 3 points now, 2 scoring and 1 contested. He cant enter in reserve yet.

Round 2 i Stay put he doesnt get the role and still doesnt enter play. Round 3 Same as round 2 he doesn't get the role again and still doesn't enter play. Round 4 I stay put he gets the role and the mono drops ontop of my rear tac squad. Cool mono rule it can land on your guys and they have to move. Which he scatters into me and has to move. Luckily thanks to the doors facing he had to deploy into my troops and ended up losing 1 warrior because he was to close to me. He was also stuck in the door. His Warriors shoot my tac squad an kill 2 marines.
Round 5, My tac squad shoots thewarriors, wounds 1 my other squad shoots the warriors and wounds 1. Shrikes team cant hurt the mono but moves into range for assault. The dread tries for the rendering 6's but fails to get any. I assault the Necrons in the monliths archway with my two marines. manage to wound 1 and my boys survive. WHich saves me cause were stuck in the door so he can't bring out his lord or the other squad. Shrikes squad assaults the monolith and manages to destroy a turret 1 of 4.

We roll off for Round 6 but dont get it. I win claiming 1 objective outright. the dread is contesting 1 and the monolith and warriors are in battle with my 3 tac marines and Shrikes squad on the other.
What did i learn. Monoliths are still beatst, Thats about it, I got really lucky in this game he got bad reserve rolls and his facing prohibited any other necrons coming into play becaues we got stuck in the doorway. I think he learned some tricks though and i'll probably be getting it handed to me next time we play. Looking forward to it.
I also got the camera working took some pics of battle 2. Had some battle 1 pics but they're blurry. Still trying to figure out how to get great shots.
I also took some other pics just of some models that i's gonna post in a slideshow. Just some random pics of my army what i have currenlty finished of all of it.
Think i'll be putting the termies on the painting table and will be getting them redone and finished im liking the deathwing. :)

Just a sidenote though we played 2 weeks ago and i learned the hardway necs dont go down and stay down. I lost the first game we played that day and won the second by phase out and by claiming 2 of 3 objectives. I fear the Day Lachlan gets some anti assualt necrons (flayed ones shudder)

painting and more painting

So, I have about a 12,000 point SM army working on a thunderhawk which will push me into the 13,000 area. I have been working for the last 6 months on getting it all painted. When i first got the army about 4 years ago i was under the notion of paint and play. Well needless to say the models were painted green some horrid extra color and done. Then I started playing and saw some other peoples armies. Needless to say i have re-done the army. Started redoing them about a year or so ago. Put together a dread and some marines. Painted em up to what i was happy with, which i believe is a above standard tabletop. I'm not hoping for any golden demon awards but i like the occasional "wow those guys are sweet." But on to recent developments. Ive been painting like i said for the last 6 months. i only get a day and a half a week off so i spend about half of one of those days painting up models. I try to get about 5 to 10 done depending on complexity. SO yeah the point of this post just finished 5 assault marines with jump packs, 2 flamer marines and 1 meltagun marine. i got the camera up and running, now im just trying to make some good shots. I'll be posting the pics in the next day or so of some of the army and some of the newly finished pieces. I may even show my before marines and where i am now with them. I think ive advanced considerably in my painting ability. Anyway more to come plus i should be playing some games on Tuesday so batreps soon.
